ETS Extreme Catback Question

Okay I saw a bunch of threads that talked about how loud it was, got it. As well as I know the youtube videos don't do it justice.

Are we talking always loud as hell? Loud above a certain RPM? Like I'm perfectly fine with driving and it being retarded loud to me, but say if I'm in traffic barely breaking like 2K rpms in stop and go (there's construction going on in the road that leads to my school now and my exhaust comes in soon) is it something that the police officer standing there directing traffic is gonna be like WTF? (This is with a testpipe btw).

I mean in the end it's all said and done already ordered, so I'm just trying to decide if I need to find an alternate route to school.

I get around 24mpg but rarely have my evo below 2k. With my borla c/b which has a small resonated straight through muffler, it is actually not that loud but deep and growly. If you have the stock converter, it will likely not be that much louder. I remember the old SRT4 neons didn't have a muffler from the factory and were still under noise requirements. You will hear it and others will hear it, but I don't think we're talking harley v-twin with open pipes loud here.

I have the extreme with stock cat, no tune. It's one of the best sounds coming out of an Evo you will ever hear It is not that loud. Although, compared to stock it is extremely loud but anything compared to stock is loud.

Sounds amazing! I think you're going to be pretty happy with your purchase.

Both make it louder especially the test pipe which makes it catless.

I have the v2 extreme (no muffler and no resonator), map test pipe, and map recirculating o2 down pipe. So there is absolutely nothing but straight 3inch piping from the turbo back. It is my dd . Is it loud ? YES . Do I love it ? Hell YES.

What kind of reactions or comments have you gotten from others?
Do you get pulled over by popo frequently with that setup?

Yeah I plan on doing the same, just budget constrains atm. Picking up the 4" ETS Intercooler, ETS UICP, ETS LICP next month. Then after that I'll pick up the Dump.

@ETS Michael: While you're in the thread any idea when that titanium UICP will be in stock again? Really wanted that one >_

Well from the public I have gotten many from the cops however I have gotten pulled over a hand full of times but it's usually for the fact that I refuse to put a front plate on. Only twice for the exhaust. I have a badge though, so ya nothing ever comes out of that

Well after installing the ETS TestPipe, ETS Extreme Catback, and ETS Intake this week, to answer this question for anyone else in the future who may consider it:

You can definitely finesse it. Especially in 6th and around 2.5K in 4th while cruising you can get it to sound stock volumish ( okay maybe not stock but pretty close) but with the amazing agressive growl sound. Even going at 70mph you can get it stock volumish.

I drove by 4 cops today np. I'm honestly no longer worried about the volume, since I have some control over it, now my only worry while driving is just the smell, honestly debating on going HFC now because of that.

BUT if you have to stop, you're loud as ****, going through like 1-3rd no matter how slow you go, ditto with uphill. So if the cop is at the bottom of a hill, or at a stoplight or stop sign...there ain't no finesse that.

Overall like Michael said, I'm definitely very pleased by the exhaust (I've literally been smiling all day) but yeah definitely gotta put my testpipe up for sale and get a HFC or something (which is my fault, never had or been around a car without a cat, and everything I've read about was typically in regards to people who had e85 so definitely not the same experience for obvious reasons).
