2012 Evo X MA Emissions Issue

Hello,

I recently purchased a 2012 Mitsubishi Evolution GSR from another forum member here.. for the past month i've been trying to figure out this issue.

I cannot pass Massachusetts state inspection, i failed due to the 02 Sensor Monitor and 02 Sensor Heater not being ready. It says "INC". I have no check engine lights.

The car has a Cobb Accessport V3 and the following:

ETS O2 Recirculated Down pipe (with the extra bung)
ETS Catless Test pipe (with extra bung)
ETS V2 Quiet Cat back
ETS Intake (wrinkle black and a second filter)
ETS IC piping wrinkle black
ETS 3.5" silver core (without any stencil done to it)
Cobb EBCS
Tial QR BOV with -6 spring (i have a few others as well)
DW65C Fuelpump
FIC 900 Injectors
FIC PNP Pigtails
Zeitronix ZT-2 (with AFR, Boost, OP. EGT sensor as well but not installed)

The tune seems to be locked, but the previous owner had no issues passing in CT the past 3 years and claims it is setup correctly for emissions and has the rear 02 sensor enabled. I'm really at loss with the car im wondering how i can get this to pass.... any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same issue with the cobb tuner. You either have to go into the settings in the racetuner for the cobb and change something for the O2 sensor. Usually I uninstall my cobb tuner then it passes no problems. But with your mods I don't think you can just uninstall it. You should contact an Etuner or a local shop around you to help.

+ a tune that hasn't been modified to suppress it. You'll fail every time I believe. Maybe in CT they aren't as stringent as your state and what worked for him isn't working for you?

I tried to view the tune in accesstuner, i dont have the pro version and the tune is locked so i can't see if the rear 02 sensor is disabled. The previous owner and tuner tell me that it isn't disabled.

Does anyone know if it would be safe to run a Cobb OTS map with my mods mainly concerned about the FIC 900 injectors.

Man no way in hell would I run a stock Cobb map with your mods. Bite the bullet and take it to a good local shop and see what they say about your tune and how to pass emissions.

There is nothing wrong with them, if you're running the parts and components to run them. If you don't (which you are nowhere close to any map they carry), you can damage your car worst case. Best case it throws a check engine when you drive to the inspection center which would...um...possibly be problematic

You bought a modified car, unfortunately things like this go with that territory. Do you have any good EVO shops around you, or you could also try getting someone to e-tune / check your map and see what's going on as well.

Honestly if I had bought that car, my first stop would be a shop I knew 100% knew their stuff to have them check out everything and make sure it was kosher. Sounds like you have a good tune, but just need a second set of eyes to tell you why you're not passing as you're expecting to.

Yeah if the tune is locked that means it's already pro tuned which isn't the problem. The problem is that somewhere in the tune there is an issue that wasn't addressed for a different states emissions testing. Take it to a shop, don't just guess.
