Cars will come and go, trust me this isn't the only car that you have to have at any cost. Get out of your ****ing house, build a life, then get a fun car.

P.S. If your mommy still does your laundry I'm going to ****ing spew.

I left my house two months after turning 18. Went to college for two years in PA and came back with a Pilot's license and Air Traffic Control experience to my home in WI. I missed my family for being gone those two years so I came back to stay with them again. My parents dont mind me at home at this point. If I can stay at home while I wait a few years until the FAA calls me for a job opening (if they ever get their hiring process straightened out) and I can also pay off my college loans and a nice car at this time why would I not if my parents dont mind me home yet? I dont have to explain myself to you but I figured I would cause you have me all wrong.

PS: I do my own laundry but my mom will offer to throw it in the washer sometimes too if she's washing something anyway. haha have a good one bro or something like that. troll another day!

Planning on picking the Evo in the link up this Monday. I like to really look into anything I do. Look at it from every aspect. Find out as much as I possibly can. Look at every single option there is out there then make a decision after thinking on it awhile. I got the most positive feedback from you guys about this used Evo I posted and that's why I'm thinking on going that route. The test drive went well tonight and I felt pretty good about it. Thank you for your input throughout the thread.

OP- you can look for a few things. Buy one from an owner that has had the car it's entire life. Get the back story. Some people will return the car to stock to trade it in. Once it's on the dealers lot they usually don't have much of a back story. Good luck with your search.

If you have questions you can pm me I'll do my best to help.
I appreciate it greatly bro. People are quick to judge nowadays but you seemed to do the complete opposite of that and I respect it. Thank you for the input and the support man.

Brutal truth is, your Ralliart has a lot of miles and it starting to give you problems is usually a sign to get out of it. If you can swing the payments, then get an Evo. Like you said, it won't be around long. Its a fun car, and its not like you are tied to it forever. Get it, enjoy it, and when the time comes (like your Ralliart) move on. You're going to like the Evo. Welcome to the club.

Check your insurance first! I went from a Porsche 911 to an evo and my insurance went way up. I was shocked.

Do what's right for you. If your parents don't mind you sticking around a while, take advantage of that generosity. They are offering it because they want you to succeed. Having your own place is great, but the world is a hard, tough place and if your financials aren't in place for it, you could wind up deep in debt and with all kinds of problems. You seem like you have a plan. That's all that is important. The only people who are in bad shape due to still living with their parents are people with no plan. People with a plan can use that time to save up money and be more financially stable when they leave.

Also, enjoy the car

Well guys, I'm a new Evo owner. I'm a pretty pissed off Evo owner though.

I bought the Evo in that cars.com link tonight. I test drove it Saturday and everything seemed great, however now I Drove it home tonight (Tuesday), perfectly fine all the way (3 hr drive). The last 15mins I pulled through a fast food line and I just hear the loudest high pitch squeal I've ever heard whenever I started to brake. Sometimes extremely bad. Other times not as bad. I made stops all along the drive home but just towards the last 15 mins this happened. The dealership started acting odd towards the end of the deal. Walking around oddly, not confirming the final numbers we threw at them. They had the Evo running the entire time of the negotiating process and then just made us wait about 10mins when we gave them our final number, after 10 mins one guy randomly got in the Evo took it into the back by service. The sales guy asked for my car keys (didnt ask to drive it, just asked for the keys). He gets in my car moves it a little bit, and starts revving it (they also already looked over my car this last Saturday so I found it odd they were checking it again). He comes back in and said he heard something odd in the exhaust sound like broken muffler where it connects to the engine and they'll have to take it by service to inspect it. Then another 20 mins or so later he came out of the service area and asked for my registration. I told him its in my glove box do you want me to go get it. He said yes. Do that. So I followed him into the back. Handed him the registration and he told me I can go clean out my old car and move it into the new one. This all happened before I even had confirmation of the final numbers I gave them?!?! I asked if they accepted my final numbers and he said yes.

So this entire story is just to show you all my experience and how odd it was and to see what you think of this as well.

Do dealers do this kind of thing? Pull little last minute tricks or whatever this was to make the brakes seem "good" but they are not or things similar to this? They seemed to stop very quickly during the test drive, pretty good driving home too with it (I've never felt how Evo brakes are previous to this though). But then they just started squealing. Not really to sure what to think of this. Idk if theres tricks they can do to give me some bad brakes at the end really quick or what. So just looking for some input and thoughts again. It all just seemed very odd to me towards the end.

Thank you guys again for staying tuned and for whatever input you may have for me.

It says balance of Factory Warranty right? Take it to your local Mitsu and see if something's up with the brakes. Yea it sucks and it's a hassle, but at least you have the warranty.

Warranty never covers brakes lol come on man seriously?
You made an expensive decision buying a used evo. Enjoy it and be ready for some high cost maintenance. Find a good evo shop. Forget the dealer.

I tell every new EVO owner I meet to start a separate savings account for random ****. Blowing a clutch, tiers, brakes and the build we all know is coming at some point.

Sooo to summarize...

OP has RA, getting up in mileage, and is concerned about future reliability. Clearly wants warranty coverage.
Has college loans.
Asks for advice on EVO X reliability.

Thinks about it.

Buys used EVO X and is now told to budget for repairs...

Oo

I mean if its just brakes since its simple just pull the wheels off and check out the pad see how much life they have left. If you really are on a strict budget you can prolly just buy some new pads and through them on if they are worn although getting the rotors turned or replaced would be a good idea but if ur on a budget new pads may be in order. Although sometimes pads are just loud depending on what type of brake pad they are. You also may be able to re lube the back of the pad and everything and quite them down.
