Hi All,
Long time lurker here. I finally pulled the trigger on the FE. I got it from El Cajon Mitsubishi in San Diego. I live in L.A. and the dealers around me have a mark up on all the FEs. I saw an ad in Autotrader from El Cajon Mitsubishi for an FE at below MSRP.
Gave them a call, we agreed on out the door price. I took the Amtrak train to get there (about 2.5 hours) and they picked me up at the station in San Diego. Got to the dealer, test drove, signed the papers, drove back home.
My old car is a 2005 Acura RSX Type-S, the transmission on the Evo is a little notchy compared to the RSX but overall I love this car.
If you're looking to buy an Evo, check out El Cajon Mitsubishi and look for Michael.

That's absolutely insane.. even if we got all of the options ( BBS wheels, Recaro Seats, Rockford Fosgate upgrade, etc ) if wouldn't be worth that much in my opinion. And they really aren't flying off the shelves either, so I'm curious how they justify that...
Shortly after I bought mine, we got a white one in stock at the dealership by me ( #74/1600 ), and that's still sitting on the showroom floor 3-4 weeks later. Right next to it is a 2015 black MR as well, that's been there even longer. Maybe it's just the time of year, the weather we get up here, etc, but I was really surprised that it didn't sell right away.
I feel a little foolish because I called into work the day after they got mine in to make sure nobody else was able to buy it before me lol...

I've worked at a VW dealer for the past 15 years, and I think what'll happen with the FE is what happened with the 2004 R32. Wasn't the hottest seller, those that knew what it was bought it, myself included. We had cars into the beginning of 2005. Then, a few years went by, much like Evos there were two camps, one of owners who kept the cars pristine and the others, who molested them, crashed them and fixed them the worst possible way. Then a few more years went by, and you really had to pay for a good example. I sold mine last summer, for $18k with 45,000 miles on it in pristine condition... Today, you can't touch one like mine for less than $22k.
