Front License Plate No Drill Option

Sorry if this is a repost but I came across this thread on the other forum and I refuse to drill into my front bumper. I was fortunate enough to find this car in NC but VA requires front license plates. This looks like a viable option.

I am at work now but I will PM the OP of that thread and hopefully he responds with some feedback since the thread is old. Anyone here tried this?

Well if your gonna go through all that trouble why not just drill the holes since you have to have it? Or just do what we do in Mo and run without it until someone says something.

Yea I don't run front plate on either the eclipse or the evo, and have never been stopped for it even when in states with the requirement. I don't think cops generally enforce that because it is so insignificant. It's practically costing them money to make such a stop when they could be hitting up some speeder and making 3 times the cash.

TRUST ME. They will stop you. I first bought my evo and almost EVERYDAY i got stopped because of the no front plate. Literally counted 16 times i got stopped. They all said almost the exact same thing "Yes we know you have a nice kit but it is illegal to have no front plate on your vehicle Also, The black and white contrast really shows that you don't have one". Then i got a ticket, another, another.. Then said F it. Got it drilled.

OP, you can get the plate that connects to the tow hook on the front of your car. That way it does not require drilling anything and you can take it off if you want. I think PERRIN sells one.

our front crash beam does not have a tow hook on it. How stupid is that... go through all that trouble to redesign a crash beam for the USDM Evo so it doesn't have the predrill hole in it. I have researched it already. I saw this and it appears to be the best way to mount it without the holes.

I rather go through the trouble of not drilling holes... because once the holes are there, there is no go going back.

I bought one of those plastic license mounting plates off Amazon which I ziptied through the crash beam holes and then screwed the license plate to that ...

I also used some adhesive weather stripping foam and stuck that to the back of the license plate mount so as not to scratch the crash beam.

I had the dealer skip the drilling and have never had a front plate aside from my inspections. I was pulled over by a state trooper who must have been very bored for it but just received a warning. Thats in 2+ years of daily commuting.

well you're one of the lucky ones... too many folks I know that get tickets for not having a front plate. I give enough money to Uncle Sam every year and I do not want to give him any more. Ticket in VA is $70 for court cost and cheapest violation is $30 to 40 bucks... that's bout 3 tanks of gas.

I am in CA so the very last thing I want to do is get pulled over for a stupid license plate and then be asked to pop the hood.

I would love to keep my car out of impound haha.

I've lived in Iowa and illinois and for the past 4 years I only got pulled over for the plate once. It was the first week I had the car and four years later that was the only time lol.

It really isn't worth the risk but I love having a clean front on the evox.

3m painting hangers. They wont eat your paint. The Velcro is strong enough o hold the plate and it peels right off.
