Traded in My 2011 MR
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone that's posted on here. I always found help when I needed it.
I had my 2011 MR for 3 years and she was a great car. Fun and fast with great handling. But it was time to move on so I had to trade her in. Now I have a 2016 Golf R.
I traded her in at Jack Daniels VW in Fairlawn NJ. Really nice people over there. I think she already sold but you can call and check if you like.
I have a few leftover parts and will be cleaning the garage out soon. If anyone sees this and buys her let me know and I can fill you in on the mods/let you know what I have for her.
Anyway, thanks again to all, this forum has always been great.

Why did you go with the R? Looking at it myself, but I'm thinking I'm more of a sedan type. Plus no sunroof is a bit of a downer on the '16, but it has much nicer lines than the 2013.

Honestly, if you're serious about lap times, you're not taking a Golf R to the track. Otherwise, you just go out there and run a slightly slower lap, but still have fun nonetheless.
And if you're more hardcore about it, you'll gut it and mod it, or get a dedicated track car. I'm sure many people took a fully loaded GTI over an R because of this. The interiors on both are almost indistinguishable.

What did you pay for her? I hear dealers try to get over sticker for them.
Did you ever consider the GTI? It has the sunroof and same interior, just less power and no awd, but I hear a chip brings it level on power with the R.
I like the styling of the MarkVII but it's a whole lotta money. Leaning towards a 2013 R with ~25k miles for $28k, or a B8 A4 with a sport package, then a chip from APR.
