Cosworth Filter Life

What are folks opinions, and findings with regards to drop in filter life. I had a drop in Cosworth, and was changing it after about 9,500 miles or so, and I thought that was to soon or overkill. But was surprised when I changed it, that the filter materials was "wearing away" on the front side exposing plastic.

Is this normal?

I thought these were supposed to be good for more miles than that.

I have even heard of these possibly being able to be cleaned and reused. This wasn't overly dirty, but I certainly wouldn't reuse it in this condition.

So how many miles are folks running these type of filters and is there a filter that is more durable?

Bump. I am interested to know this as well. Does the product packaging show any approximate life-span?

None that I can see.

The maintenance schedule shows 15000 miles for OEM filter. No way this one would have gone 15000 miles.
