Buying New EvoX

Hey guys, you've probably gone through the whole recaro seat discussion over and over again. After checking out the forum in and out and reading that Al From Dyno flash fits in an Evo so can everyone else, but to finally put the nail in the coffin for myself and avoid embarrassment at the dealer when I go "test drive" (more like seat sitting).

Can you guys answer me this.... I'm 6"5, 300lb, retired defensive lineman (giving you idea of body shape). I drive a 03' civic (cannot wait to get rid of it) I fit snug in the car but with a winter jacket just barely fit enough to have wheels not rubbing against legs /knees.

Ive sat in a base lancer and had reasonable room. (Legs extended with some slight bending in knees)

Will I fit in an EvoX with recaro seats?

I don't think so. But the newest EVO doesn't have the Recaros so you would actually have a better chance in them. The Recaros are snug on a 6' 200lb guy.

You should be able to. I'm 6'5" and 231 lbs and I fit fine but with that being said I'm not stocky or built like a lineman. I don't have the Recaros with the 2015 MR but I think the seats that came with the car are comfortable enough for me. We drove the car 10-11 hours straight from Melbourne, FL to where we live and I didn't have any issues with my rear getting sore.

Interesting.

I am 5'10" 190, athletic build, and the seats are snug on me. I guess recaro did a good job designing a "one size fits all" type seat.

If you are getting into those Recaros, you are not going to enjoy it at 300lbs.

They are very narrow and by no means one size fits all.

However those 2015 seats are not nearly as bolstered and I could see those working for you.

I have leather recaros in my 2015. Im 6'7 and 230ish. Driving position is different but comfort I find is about the same. The recaros change the way my knees are angled. Instead of being pointed forward, sitting on the seats, having to position my feet awkwardly on the throttle, the knees are up and its a more comfortable overall driving position as you sit in the seats as opposed to on them. As far as you fitting in them being 300 lbs, it may be kind of snug but I fit in mine comfortably (granted I'm 70 lbs lighter and 2 inches taller)

Also I'd like to note that if more of your weight is in the upper body i.e. chest shoulders the recaros are wider up top and do accommodate a larger build

Only 6'3" 230lbs here. The back portion is fine for me, quite comfortable in fact. It's the thigh bolsters that suck. My hips and legs are too wide for them and you basically end up sitting on top of the bolsters rather than sinking in between.

UPDATE: just test drove a 2013 ralliart, the bottom portion of the seat at first was kinda uncomfortable, but after wiggling around for a few seconds they kinda just sucked me in. SOOOO MUCH MORE ROOM THAN MY CURRENT CIVIC!! Leg space and head room is perfect hell i even had my seat too far back I had to move it up a bit. Is the EVO the same cockpit/dimension/seats as the ralliart?

Thank you guys for your responses

Either used 2015 prices or used 2010 prices are out of line? Is that the going rate?

This is a excellent question as i was about to ask myself.. now im no where near that size, im 5'9 200 lbs, semi fit, id be fine but i do have to from time to time drive my mother places and sometimes by dad who is 6'4 close to 300 with a bad back.. so recaros cut my evo choices to just the 2015 or getting a ralliart.. so ill juat target some 2015s hopefully can find one for the right price next feb, otherwise its a ralliart
