Going from R33 GTST to Evo 8...please talk me into it.

Hi guys! I am new here.

Cut long story short. I have always been a Skyline fan, completely obsessed with them. The RB engine sound, the power delivery and the street cred you get from a skyline.

Although the last 2 skylines I have owned had nothing but issues. I currently have a black R33 that I have invested so much money and time in, I have poured my soul into this car and just recently had it on the dyno and made an impressive 280kw at the wheels. 2 days later and my engine note started sound like crap and would not pull when on boost, also I have lost a lot of boost pressure. I have taken it to numerous mechanics and no one can find the issue. So I am done with skylines.

Its always something with old skylines, always issues and I can never turn the key and enjoy my pride and enjoy. Always frustration and sorrow.

so I have finally made the decision to sell the car on Tuesday and buy a EVO 8 with low ks. I wanted something newer with less issues and something fast.

I don't know a single thing about the evo. I know this is evo forum but I hope you guys can be honest and not biased hahah.

Will it be an upgrade going from a R33 gtst to an Evo 8? How do the evo sound compare to the rb engine note? How is the power delivery? Will it be noticible going from a 6 to smaller engine?

I need some convincing Cheers guys!

If you're burned on Skylines, get something else. May want to get a 9 or X due to less issues as it isn't as old?

depends on how much power you want to make, evo can make similar power no problem but you as always need to upgrade parts.

I know that feel brother. I switched from owning 2 300zx twin turbos to my Evo X. The sound of an Evo will never be as good in my opinion, but I absolutely love my Evo X so far. It's not as fast, doesn't have the coupe feel, nor does it sound as good. The Evo X is more practical, still plenty fast, and still sounds alright. The best part about me switching to my Evo is the turn key performance without the headaches. You'll miss RWD at times, but the pulls you get out of a corner will fill that void every time. If you want a fun car without any headaches I'd recommend an Evo X. An 8 or 9 will likely give you plenty of headaches over time due to age and previous ownership.

I owned 2 evo's before, both brand new, evo 8 and evo 8 RS, I own 08 Evo X GSR for about a year now, and as for daily with just a bolt on's is just perfect, I love AWD, pretty much i owned more AWD cars than FWD, RWD, evo 8,9 is more RAW and yes, getting older... I'd say get an X -
