Selling my x for a 9...yes or no

I own a ww 2009 Evo x. Basic bolt ons, coilovers( 2 blown need to replace them) , 50k miles. A friend selling his crazy modded Evo 9, 19k miles , which he owned from 2006 and barely drive it, always parked inside, never I saw rain, with every expensive mod u can think of, including full upgraded head, cams, retainers, valves, arp studs and so on. Pt6265 turbo, aem stand alone, all' not older than 10 months, he spent over 15k in the last 2 years with all invoices to prove it. safely tuned at 21psi for 415whp\356torque. Car is showroom condition. I have a buyer for my x, that is offering the same money that my friend is asking for the 9, so no extra money . But my decision is not based on money..... I owned an 8 before, never really like the x shape until I got one. Now it grew into me and I love it, so I kinda feel like the 9 is outdated. But I still know the 9 is the best Evo ever, and to get it fully modified like that would save me over 15k of mods I would do anyway to my x, and lots of time of not driving the car while at the garage..... I want to know what u guys would do and why u think of a switch of this kind....

I'd go for it if you like the mods. X's are very common and you can always get another. Low mileage 8's and 9's are not so common.

I would definitely switch under the given circumstances. The 9 if kept clean will be worth more than the X. Also, speaking from experience of having both cars, the 9 will always be my favorite. Both heavily modded, and neither is my daily, but when I feel like driving, I always take the 9. I have been trying to get rid of the X for a while, despite having a GTX3582, sleeved motor, it is just not an exciting car to drive.

I have done just that. I went from a 2011 GSR to selling it and getting my wife a 2006 IX MR SE with 18k miles. The only mods it had were coilovers. I definitely missed aspects of my X. Namely the handling. Just felt like a more solid car. In the end we sold her IX (mistake because of how cheap we sold it and will never find one in that condition again), and I am back in a X FE. But this is all personal taste.

The reason I would NOT do what you're considering is because of how modded it is. 15k in mods is no joke and will take upkeep, and be prepared to deal with more issues. The odds of something going wrong are higher and may lead to you not driving the Evo as much. Just my perspective.

Yes. That's is true. As tempting as it is, it might not be so reliable. Where if I out a slightly bigger bolt on turbo on the x, like the mhi, I will have a very fun reliable call all the time.....trust me man, not an easy choice

Sell X, buy 9, part out what you don't want, keep what you do want = win.

10/10, would do it. That's a clean, well-optioned 9. Go for it!

Man you're in Jamaica keep a stock / near stock EVO and enjoy life. You know how hard it would be to repair things down there. Unless you're rich, I'd pass. I just came from Negril on vacation was a great place

I say do it. There's plenty of X around if you feel you made a mistake later. The 9 is certain to be more valuable if that matters.

Wasn't aware, I thought I remember a guy from Jamaica having issues before that had limited access to mechanical help. Go with your heart then, if you feel it can be supported then have fun Not sure where you're going to speed in that beast though!

Remember that a car that heavily modified will require extra maintenance. More horsepower = more stuff to fix, more often. Finding parts may be more difficult and will definitely be more expensive.
If you don't mind working on your cars, then that's no big deal. If you are thinking the IX will be as reliable as your X, you may be in for a surprise.

I sold my X in order to buy a Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro but I am going to purchase another Evo and when I do it will be a IX. I feel the X is a better car for a daily and the VIII or IX is more of a track focused car. This is all my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.
