Install parts before paint?

Got a few items and looking to get them painted and what not. Hood, Bumper, and Fenders.. Do you guys think it would make sense to install and then take it to get painted? Or would it be better for them to paint, install, and then blend? Just curious as they’d obviously charge more for install after paint. Thanks

I just recently had my whole car painted, and saved about $1000 by removing as much as I can. The painters are most likely going to removing the parts anyway, so I'd say its best to just bring them in off the car. Blending shouldn't be too much of an issue, as long as you have the paint code. Also, it looks like you have wicked white? Whites tend to be easier to blend than other colors.

If it's just the front clip most places will probably want to have them on the car to blend them into your front doors. Which means your front doors will also be receiving colour via the blend and clear. That's the proper way to do a repair so you don't notice it. A full respray they will probably want it all apart, yes, but if they're blending it might be easier with the panels on the car.

If they're currently off the car ask the body shop what they prefer, that's your best bet as they're the ones that have to do the work.

I work at a shop and my techs wont do it if they cant get paid for R & I. We here do warranty our repairs except on loose parts because sometimes during installation a part can get damaged.
