Hi guys...I cant catch a break with these damn evos

cut long story short. I just purchased my new evo x several days ago and noticed my turbo is incredibly laggy and takes forever to spool. Its very frustrating to drive on a daily basis and its driving me insane.

The car is stock standard as with only a cosworth drop in filter. The car almost feels like im dragging an anchor.

would it be a wastegate or boost leak issue?

Any help would be appreciated guys...

 

Wastegate could be bad
Boost leak, though that should cause other issues
Clogged up catalytic
Bad turbo
Intake restriction
??

 

I would start off with a BLT and check the wastegate as they're both easy and cheap enough to test. I would also get a boost gauge to have inside the car. To give you a better idea of how much boost and when it builds the boost. A clogged cat will also slice your power right down to virtually nothing. Splattj does have good suggestions.

 

How you been in another stock evo to compare? Maybe your just expecting more? You can always do a boost leak test. That solves 80% of slow boost related questions.

 

Agreed. Might be expecting GTR performance.
