Looks to be like the tabs to eliminate bumper sag or for a quick release. My caliber needed these bad hah, but this doesn't have any bumper sag... Assuming the previous owner used to take it off regularly I would guess.

Thank you guys for the love. I'm falling in love with it more everyday. Thinking about going stage 1 cam. Any recommendations? I've always been really stiff on end goals and I would like to make about 350whp with this one, nothing crazy. You guys think a stage 1 cam would help me get to this goal and still be able to daily without building the motor? I drive pretty aggressively but I do not launch the car or autocross. I still have me N2MB work box off my caliber I was thinking of putting on this as well. Let me know what you guys think

It's not stage 1 etc. with the EVO, go custom tune every time. Get a drop in filter from Rallysport direct, Cosworth, non oiled. That's good enough for your goals you don't need a full intake. You can also put that on right now, without issue. (It just replaces your stock filter)

Next for any power you need a catted test pipe, EBCS, and tune. That's the bare bones minimum but will get you some power, past that add what you want.

You could add an intercooler, uicp, licp, the above + fuel pump and be closer to your goal. If you plan on a 3" exhaust get it at the time you tune for the other stuff as it will throw off your tune if you add it after.

You're in Louisiana, so I would HIGHLY recommend you get a few parts then make a weekend roadtrip to Houston to use Kozmic Motorsports to tune your car. They are the best in the southern states unless you hit like California where there are some great ones as well. You could also hit up wtftuned which does great tunes and they can e-tune with you where you log and email them / flash your car while you get a good tune sorted out. He's a great guy to work with, and no travel needed that route.

Good luck with car they are really fun!

Congrats and welcome.
It is really easy to get hooked on the modding bug quickly with these cars and the $ add up fast.
If i was you Id get a Test pipe or High flow cat and a tune - drive it like that for a little, while your researching and getting to know your car.
There are some great turbo kits out there and you should not rule that option out down the road it really is about the same price if you compare buying the parts separately to mate with a stock frame set up.
Enjoy!

Congrats to a fellow red EVO X. The more you drive this car, the more you will hate autonomous drive tech
