Hey guys new to Evo m. I’m having trouble In California with the stupid smog laws with my 2011 Evo gsr. I don’t know what to do. Either keep it and go back to stock and never get to enjoy what my car is or sell it. I have been thinking of selling it because I don’t want to go back to stock and gas price suck here. Especially with a kid on the way. Let me know what you think .

 

Take your car to a quality tuner like 5150 racing and get the car properly tuned so it passes emissions? But if they do visual on your exhaust because you live in a fascist liberal hotbed of ****ery - then you will need to have two tunes and revert the car to a 'semblance' of stock before you get it inspected, then put the exhaust and other obvious bits back on when you want to get back to driving it the way you like it.

No free lunch man when in CA - Get your fingers dirty or drive a tame-er car with less power.

 

I love how people that don't live in California think they understand what it's like having a modified car in California.

I lived there for thirty-six years and have had modified cars since I could drive and found a way to mod them however the hell I wanted to the whole time.

 

Trust me man I have talked to everyone and tried everything. Even when my car was all stock I couldn’t even pass with a three port solinoid and a single map tune. **** is hard here.

 

if it's stock and you can't pass, you are doing it wrong. Straight up truth.

Get a real tune by somebody that knows about emissions in California and hide that 3 port.

Well it’s not that it was done wrong road race are quality tuners. They pulled out some new OBD 2 and they told me that even tho your car is stock we can see your car has been flashed before even with the proper stock tune. I was like wtf

Yes, the new OBDII check can tell if the ROM isn't OEM. You will need the right one flashed in order to pass.

 

Use ROM with original id. Which means actual original rom id or current rom spoofed for original rom id

 

So guys thanks for all the info and ways to save my Evo but after talking to my wife and looking at finances the Evo has to go. I will be posting the car soon for sale. I will always be an EVO fan at heart.

 

You know you have to smog it to legally sell it, right? You are going to hit the same problem.
