This issue can be solved rather easily. The problem in the vast majority of cases is an oiled filter (even some "dry" filters have oil in them). I cooked four or five MAF sensors years ago with AEM Dryflow filters, K&N, etc. Then, I started using aFe Power filters, and I have not burned a single MAF since. Also, despite what others may allege, recirculated BPV's CAN push oil forward into the MAF from the suction hose on the back of the valve cover. Say what you will, but I have seen this happen. Now, you can go with a vented catch-can (not recommended), or you can also run a non-recirculated BOV with a suction driven AOS. If you have a very efficient AOS, then this should not be an issue. Mine is not very good, and I plan to get rid of it. Time is always my worst enemy, unfortunately.
