Quote: Haha! I love it. I wish my wife was into cars. How do you like the IX? I thought about it, I still have never driven one. I'm still drawn to the X more.
Really likening it so far, but to be honest, at least in stock form, both the X and IX are more similar than not. The IX feels more sporty and nimble due to the weight difference. For reference our X MR is stock with 22k miles, and the IX MR also is stock with 31k miles.

I am 5'7" 145 lbs, the X seats are amazing to me, the IX Recaro's are just ok.

Old pic of my X GSR at VIR. Personally, at least for looks, i like the X's myself.

That's awesome, your third evo. Have you drive an Evo IX before?

I'm 34 years old and still drawn to this car moreover than most things out there. I contemplated a GTR but didn't think it would be as fun. I'm not wanting a horsepower monster.
Yea, I'm 34 as well. I test drove a IX SE back in 2006. I remember that car being really fast stock, but I also was driving a slow V6 Mustang at the time. I haven't driven a IX since. Tried to get one a few years back, but school kept getting in the way. Everytime I was ready to go buy one somebody beat me to it. Even till this day they're hard to buy at least one in decent shape cause soon as one hits the market there's a buyer waiting or they want an insane amount of money. Hopefully, I'll have a IX and a Type R sometime in the future.

im 34 and my 2nd child just turned a month old...

Been considering selling just to have a bigger cushion.

But i also feel like i should experience going through the stages of owning an evo (e85, aftermarket turbo, big turbo, built engine etc.) before selling it...i got into the car scene fairly late

Thanks for posting this.

I am in a similar situation as we just had our first child a year ago. Selling the car does cross my mind every so often, until I drive it and remember exactly how much I still love it!

For the money, I do not feel there is a good replacement for what an EVO offers. And with the 4 doors, it can be argued - still fits the family car category
An Audi RS3 would be nice but for $50-60K... keeping the evo makes a lot more sense.

Sold my IX. Instant regret. Bought a WRX because I couldn't find an Evo. Not even close. Happened upon the same year/color as old Evo. Jumped all over it. I've had it for seven years. Never selling.

Quote: First off Beautiful looking Evo I would miss it as well
Why don't you get like an older 02 03 bugeye WRX They are going for 3-5k
I'm planning on selling the Evo and buying one of them to keep me calm,
cause selling the Evo and driving just the daily TSX would kill me slowly.
Honestly they are the closest thing to our Evos 2.0 turbo Rally AWD
Not. Even. Remotely. Close. Like, at all. Not.

lolwut

At the very least say STI. No "regular" WRX is comparable to an Evo.

If you have the funds, then do it, man. My advice would be, thoroughly do your research (I'm sure you will) and do everything right the first time. I would try to do turbo, bolt ons and e85 all at once. Then you just have to pay for one tune. If you have any questions about parts and power you're looking for, let me know. I went through like 3-4 different exhausts and two different turbo setups. YUCK! LOL. But I learned. The car comes alive with just bolt-ons and tune. Adding E85 is amazing. I recommend a flex-fuel setup.

That's so funny. I was considering a RS3 but talked to multiple owners and they said it's too small for a family of 4. I guess everyone is different. Those things are nasty. The Evo is just so fun. People get caught up in having so much horsepower, it takes away from the true nature of these cars. Realistly, 98% of owners are never going to push these cars to limits around a track.

RS3 isn't anywhere close to the Evo. There is literally no MQB platform that handles anywhere close to a CT9A or a CZ4A.

If you are just doing street driving then whatever but the MQB platform really lets you down on track.

They're faster in a straight line but not better in the corners. I rather have the Evo.

Sold mine about a month ago, but only to have the cash on hand to start shopping for GTR's. You will probably miss having a sports car every time its nice outside, haha.

The natural progression I almost, ALMOST did the same.. but I know my Evo is going to more fun to drive at the track. If it ever comes the time I'm looking for all-out lap times and don't want to spend more time/money developing the Evo... then I'll consider it again.

I could see myself missing the clutching in and rowing through gears at times.
