leaking brake fluid after dealer performed tcase install almost led to disaster
Hi guys.
If you check my post history, I had a dealer ruin my tcase when I had drivetrain fluids performed where the drain plug wasn't torqued all the way and my tcase developed a small leak and eventually imploded on the highway.
Well, the car was towed to a local Mitsu dealer (500 miles away from the dealer that messed up my tcase) and I had Shep build a used tcase I found online and send it to the dealer. Replaced tcase+driveshaft yoke to the tcase, and the car ran. However, when I finally left with the car, my brake pedal was spongey some minutes into the drive. I was able to make it home slowly and almost experienced a crash near home because the pedal went to the floor, but I was able to save it with the e-brake. I refilled the brake fluid reservoir at home which was low. And 4 hours later there was a puddle of it underneath the car, somewhat underneath the brake booster (firewall).
Dealing with this dealer has been the poorest experience I've had yet (surprising considering my last dealer-related post). Many random parts don't seem tightened in the car (engine underguard seems to be dragging now, although I didn't hear it; huge clanging noise when making turns coming from tranny tunnel); and it's extremely hard to communicate with this dealer.
My question is, what is leaking? Slave cylinder is dry. Line from the slave towards the master is dry. The brake booster looks dry. All calipers and wheels dry. The brake pedal falls to the floor and gives no feedback. Low brake fluid warning light is on. With the car off, the brake pedal regains some stiffness and when pumping the pedal with the car off, a weird noise comes from the brake booster area. Clutch pedal stiffness is OK. I thought CMC is broken but why do I not see it at least obviously leaking? Inside the cabin there doesn't seem to be any leaks from the CMC either. What am I missing? I'm getting really discouraged and tired.
