Local Shop Labor Hour Quote Question

Hi Everyone!
Proud owner of a mostly stock, 2014 Evo X with less than 18K miles on the clock. I am looking to have full turbo back exhaust, 4 inch intercooler with UICP/LICP from MAPerformance, with AEM UEGO O2 Wideband/gauge and Boost gauges installed on the car locally.

I am being quoted 15 labor hours for all that from a local shop. Does that seem excessive labor hour wise to everyone or is that about right?

I'd do much of this myself but live in an apartment and cannot work on cars there without getting kicked out. I don't have any friends with garages I can borrow either. I live in Columbus, Ohio area as info.

Thanks,
Robert

I mean, most shops should have all that installed in 6-8hrs tops. I could install all that myself in that same time frame. If I were you i'd install the exhaust, intercooler, and intercooler piping myself, and then have a shop do the gauges.

I would 100% do that but I would get kicked out of where I live. I can’t work on cars here. None of my friends have garage space I could borrow either. I wish there were some local Evo guys that could help.

Not sure exactly what Buschur is up to these days, but he's in Wakeman, so he may want to give them a call. Its a just under a couple hours drive time, but he is the evo specialist in your area. TPG Tuning in the Pittsburgh area also, but they're 3.5hrs away.

Depends on the shop rate. 15 hours so maybe roughly $1500 is about right I would say. Maybe a bit steep but if they do fantastic work, worth it. I don't know what to think about the comment to do EVERYTHING except the gauge. That is the easiest part to do. Honestly, when getting into the hot parts you never know if a bolt is going to give you trouble. The downpipe takes some gymnastics to do. The intercooler requires removing the bumper which is delicate.

I work at a dealer in columbus. I can install the mechanical items for cheap. Probably 7-8 hours.

Just saw turbo back. Downpipe sucks.
