Wanted Community Advice On Repair Work After An Accident. My Evo X 2015 Mr was involved in an accident with a guy who entered the intersection and crossed the solid line. (this is in NYC) This is my first accident, and I'm feeling super confused about what steps to take next to get it fixed. I've just received the estimate, and not sure what to think about it. Also, it seems they may have missed damage on the inside, but I'm not entirely sure. That's why I'm reaching out to the community for help. I'm hoping someone can assist me in interpreting the report and identifying potential issues to be aware of. I want to make sure that my Evo, which has been completely stock throughout its entire life, and well taken care of. Thanks For The Input!
You wheel looks pushed back, and I don't see any suspension work on that quote, also an MR BBS wheel is much more than $150, unless they getting you a used one. Also, the quote says headlamp WITHOUT HID when your headlamp is clearly HID. I would take that car somewhere else to be evaluated. Maybe even a legit Mitsubishi Bodyshop at a dealer, or contact the dealer and ask who they specifically use for bodyshop work. I'm not familiar with shops in NYC.
Go to THREE shops and get estimates for the work. If you have a dirtbag insurance company they will makeup their own LOW BALL estimate based on photos. Then out of nowhere they will send you a check for some amount.
IF YOU CASH THAT CHECK then you are AGREEING that you are DONE with the claim. It is an evil trick that gets people who are down on their luck and low on funds.
Anyhow, go to THREE SHOPS and get estimates. If you can find out a reputable shop that is obviously ideal. When my EVO X needed work I talked to the guy who was actually going to do the work. I explained how much work I have in the car, and that I am not going to want the same level of work as a soccer mom with a mini-van. I said I didn't want to be able to detect it was worked on, and then asked if he could do that for the cost of the estimate. He agreed.
When I went to pick it up, I could feel the overspray on the roof and side door. I called him out and showed him how it felt rough, and he was so cool and said "yep I said I would do better, come back tomorrow."
He cleaned up the overspray and with my eyes and HANDS I could no longer detect it was worked on.
We shook and I threw him a tip for taking care of me.
I hope things work out for you like they did for me.
