Hey there! I have a 2017 lancer SE AWD and I'm wondering what would be involved with swapping the Evo X drivetrain on to it? Are the rear subframes the same?

I'm assuming I would need whe whole drivetrain but not sure about driveshaft differences or hubs and stuff like that. The plan is to build the engine for boost and toss a haltech in. But I'm hoping it's a decent candidate for the stronger drivetrain parts.

It should be the same thing as a Ralliart. Rear subframe should be the same. Please take pictures of the transfercase and rear differential to confirm.

 

Thanks! I did some research with that information and i can confirm that the rear axles and diff are different. they are the same as the eclipse cross. since my car is a 2017. i don't know how much torque the rear end can hold but that's what i found out.

I also found out that the driveshaft is the same as ralliart. the transfer case is again the same as the eclipse cross.

so to go to a manual turbo swap, I'm looking at everything you need to do to convert a ralliart to a 5speed PLUS a ralliart rear end and a 4b11t. front axles are the same as ralliart.

The last piece of the puzzle would be the wiring. going from the CVT to 5speed shouldn't be too bad. I'm, just not sure what harness i would need. it might not even matter with a haltech, it's just wires. another option would be to build the 4b12 that's in there.

This will be a long term project and I'm just now in the research stage. I'll keep this thread updated as i discover things.

I am all in on weird, funky and interesting swaps and builds but this is just building at evoX? This isn't me trying to rain on the parade but you will be into this project for less money as well as still have a daily just buying an X.

Save yourself the hassle and pain, pony up the 15-20k or whatever and buy an X.

Even though my title says so, I'm not a newb and nothing about doing a swap like this would bring me hassle or pain, I've done much harder swaps. I'm also pretty confident I can do this for less than $10k. Just making it an evoX is not the end goal, It's just the beginning of the build.

In short. I don't want to buy an evoX, I want to make one. I'm also a content creator and I couldn't find any documentation on doing this on a platform that's been out for 15+ years, so I see a hole and I want to fill it.

Thanks for the concern though. Some people do need someone to tell them that, just not me haha.

 

Ok, its your money and time but again, I don't see the point. There isn't really a hole bc this car already exists lol. Most swaps are doing something that wasn't manufactured lol. That's likely why no one has done it, the outcome isn't worth the work.

If you are deadset on doing it, my suggestion would be a totaled X as a donor. You'll be able to test fit subframes, driveline stuff, etc. I am sure some of it will be bolt in ish given that I believe they share a chassis but there will be some differences that will only be noticed when actually trying to fit stuff.

If you really want to do a swap with the 4B11, my direction; especially as a content creator, put it in something more interesting. A Mighty Max, an S10, swap it into a civic, idk but build something totally unique lol. Hell even doing it in the eclipse cross would be pretty weird and be something that doesn't exist already lol.

 

Yea I have seen 4B11T lancer swaps some are FWD and others are AWD. I can understand the sleeper build allure.

I was thinking about putting in a 4B11T into a new generation Outlander. It would be completely pointless but then again its the allure that draws me.

I haven't yet, but it is one of the long term projects planned! I will post everything I figure out here as well as a YouTube series for the build. I'm halfway through a pretty big 4g63 swap, but this is the next project in line once this swap is done!
