Does the X's battery just suck or what?
It just doesn't seem to turn to starter over very quick... especially when it's cold. I know this may be normal to the Evo, but is it because the battery sucks? If so... which is a better one to get that doesn't do this?

, befor starting ,
turn your key so the fuel pump is on, youll hear it , take the time 4 to 5 sec or the time it takes to put a seat belt on and then start it ....:) i had 3 mistu and all did the same thing |
I've started my X on many days where it was around 15F degrees out. Of course it's going to be a little bit slow, that's expected, but I never had a problem. It helps to keep your car's front end facing away from any wind on cold days like that. If possible, park it in the garage. If you don't have a garage, build one.. Mitsu's paint sucks enough as it is and building a garage is cheaper than getting a new good paint job later on down the road.

Do you have the Optima? I've never had a problem and it's been colder than heck here.

I've got the stock battery and agree that it sucks. Oddly enough, it just died on me in my driveway. I could tell it was gonna go. It has been starting extremely slow lately. And, it finally died. I'm on hold with Mitsu roadside assistance to get a jump :) Then off to the dealership to try to get the stock battery replaced with an Optima Redtop (which is something Mitsu dealers were doing when the car first came out).

FYI, you can park directly into the wind and it won't matter. Once the engine reaches air temp, it cannot get any colder. The wind will just help it get there faster.
Wind chill is just a number to show how cold out it feels to a human with a body temp of 98.6*. |

never ever had a prob!

Its a tiny battery, I wouldnt give it too much credit

I swapped with an STM 14 pounder, so far it's been ok this winter but I have the original battery charged up ready to go with a booster charge every couple months just in case. The stocker definitely has more size for reserve power but the cranking speed seems to be very similar unless you are in sub 10* F temps.

Mine has always started even at 15 below. Yes it cranked a little slow, but fired up no problem
|
The dealer replaced mine with a Optima Red Top under warranty! The factory battery sucked.
|
I've never had a problem with mine.
|
The factory battery only has around 360 cold crancking amps. I just charged mine, and it still gives problems on cold mornings. You can upgrade to one with 750 cca.
