Should I get a used or new Evo X?

I have been pondering of getting either a used or new Evo X GSR. I am kind of at a lost. For one, how big of a price gap is there between getting a used one vs a new one? Also, I am kind of weary about purchasing used Evo's since depending on how the previous owner took care of it. The turbo could have been broken into poorly. What is your opinion?

Check the prices of the new and used at the dealership. Depending on the dealership, you may be able to acquire a new Evo for less than a used Evo. Granted, a large number of used Evo's are cheaper, but not by much. If you can afford the extra few thousand, grab the new one, and you can rely on the dealership to take care of you. Then again, if you know how to work on cars, or would prefer to have an extended warranty with the dealership taking car of any repairs, and/or feel that you can make any repairs that are possibly needed, then grab a used one.

if u plan to mod your car heavily
go for the used car
since u will change most of the parts anyway
but if u intend to keep it stock
get the new one

manufacturers warranty transfers with ownership...
in my situation it was this:
New Evo- $36,000
2008 Evo w/4500miles- $27,500

It was not worth the $8,500 to me for a new one.

Wow, new Evo over in So Cal was $31K with a used for $26K for similar used quoted miles. Must be the difference in location. It is assumable that So Cal cars are of a less expensive nature than other areas? Add $2-3K for GSR/ MR difference, respectively. Different strokes...for different folks.

It depends... I ended up getting mine shipped from South Coast for that reason... but my above example gets you some nice mods and thats could be worth a few thousand bux.

watch where you get the used one.

I buy used evo's but I'm beyond picky. The first evo i bought, was from a guy who never modded and he garaged it for a year because he became a daddy.

I bought a evo x with 5k miles and this was a car that was return because the loser couldn't afford the payments. His loss is my gain.

Used evo X's are proving to be quite cheap right now and many are well under 15-20k miles

Are you going to pay cash or getting a loan? You will find that any bank giving a car loan will give a lower intrest rate on a new car vs a used car. Even with good credit its a 2-3% difference which makes the payments nearly the same. I would go new unless you get a smokin deal with lower intrest.

EvoXAdam Mar 22, 2010 02:47 PM

I got mine used with 10k miles on it and saved 7k dollars....it's def worth it if the car is stock or close to stock so you know it hasn't been totally beaten on

PATTAZ Mar 22, 2010 03:02 PM

Go with new, and it is your...go with use and just guess what the
Other owner did with it... I bought my evo x new

But if u are short on money then I would go with used...

Good luck

+1 on new evo. I never regret being upside down on car payment. Lol

popdakebin Mar 23, 2010 09:40 AM

^+1 lol. If you have the cash, nothing beats new car chemical smell. I'm planning to keep this car for a long time, so I bought new. My next car (2nd car) will be used for sure. It's all preference.
