Evo feels sluggish and heavy...

After 2.5 years of owning I can safely say the X feels little sluggish and heavy. Not sure what it is but it doesn't have the get and go like it should but once it gets there its a blast to drive. I'm thinking maybe I need a re-tune? The only thing I've done to it is tune, aem intake, test pipe and dyno at 310hp. I've recently added some wheels that are a bit heavier then stock and a recaro child seat that weighs +50lb! Not sure if it's the added weight or not but it is sluuuuggish!! Any inputs?

you've gotten used to the power, that's why modding exists :)

Sell it and get a fiat 500 super light

put her back on the dyno and see if you've really lost power or if it's in your head

Big wheels will make a car's acceleration and handling feel sluggish.

+1 change your wheels.... lighter wheels will also helps on your mpg

ThunderOZ Nov 23, 2011 09:04 AM

Change your wheels or drive something with less than 150hp for a couple of weeks, then get back in your evo.

dmcghie Nov 23, 2011 09:07 AM

you got used to it...do a tune up, change the oil, air filter and spark plugs (at the same time),get lighter wheels and it should feel peppy in the lower rpms

I think you got used to the power and the wheels aren't helping. I say get a couple more mods and a retune and invest in some nicer/lighter wheels.

MAS2377TECH Nov 23, 2011 09:31 AM

Put the Evo on a diet, tighten up the suspension and get a tune.....just throwing some ideas out there...

Changes the final drive as well

Try cleaning the throttle body and run some fuel injection cleaner in it.

Can it be a sign of my stock clutch I going out? I'm at 35k miles.

Jookies Nov 23, 2011 11:09 AM

I think if the clutch was going out the car would still rev fine, the rev's would just slip because the clutch wouldn't be holding anymore. I don't think it would slow down how fast your car revs tho..

Exactly, the clutch going would have nothing to do with your car being sluggish. It would just slip.
