How to replace HID on the MR
#17
I want to change mine as well. After having "Philips Ultinon's 6000K" in my STi for the last 4.5 yrs,the stock yellowish bulbs are laim by comparison.
So what's involved for the install (GSR) w/SSS ? Can some one please post a step-by-step and some pix of changing them out. That would be very helpful.
I cannot wait to have them,w/ the projector style now the blue/purple hue will really look awesome,I like the prism effect on the Projector style over my STi's D2R type.

I think the highbeam has nothing to do with the bulb right? Like it ain't bouble filament. Its a cover inside the housing that lifts up and allows the blocked light to travel which makes the high beam correct?!
But i think you do need a certain type bulb for projector lenses.
I'm trying to find more info so I can change mine out, Stock ones suck *** and if there not on one of the lowest setting you cant really see.
I upgraded my fogs to hid, But I think the bulbs are made for projector so there real bright in the front. I'm trying to find a good solution to retrofit a lens in there so I can take full advantge of hid fogs.
Any insight or ideas would be great if anyone has any.

69 bucks i think. I kinda forget where i got them. But if you want I can look for you. BUT if you do want to do it right. I would suggest getting a good pair. These are good for 69 bucks. But i'm looking into replaceing them with some good Philips stuff.
Real easy to install, took like 15 min per light to do. The pass side is a lil more difficult cuz of the oil cooler being in the way so its tight, But driver is all open.

Also u might already know this but if you don't to save you time the fogs are H11 bulbs.

well you need to get the H11 kit so that way they screw in, And the kit comes with the ballast, And I recondmend gettin the new thin ballast for wieght so u can mount it to the side with double sided tape.
Now with the kit if have, Its kind mickey moused. I dont know if all the kits are like this or just the cheaper ones. But i had to just put the power and neg wires into the wireing harness to get its power. You would think by buying a kit for a certain bulb they would have the power connectors for that particular bulb. So right now there just slid in there with a **** load of electrical tape .
If anyone else out there that has bought the good kits know if the connectors for the particular lightbulb you bought on the ballast side!?!
So inconclusion you need to buy the kit to get the ballast, and like i said its a really easy install.
