Putting Car on Jack Stands

I know this is probably relatively simple but it is also something you dont want to screw up!

I was wondering if anyone could post up pictures of how to properly set the car up on jack stands to perform various tasks (changing out parts, rotating tires, changing oil, etc). Pictures of the best jacking points and where to put the jacks would be greatly appreciated. Also, what is the best order to do everything in, jack the front up first or the back?

Also, if anybody has any suggestions on good floor jacks and jack stands to use.

Thanks in advance!

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
The manual should have a section too that shows the points.

what I did last night was to lift the front end under neath the Central lift point, you will see it under the engine cover, remove the bottom engine cover and throw away cover, you wont need this especially after you upgrade to a bigger FMIC, jack up the front end and place two jacks under the frame rails where they are bolted together, or just drive on top of two rhino ramps with an extra 2"x12" on top.
jack up the rear on either side under the rear reinforced jack point, lift the car high enough to place the jack stand on the other side jack point, now move the jack to the folded car jack point and lift again just enough to place the jack stand under the jack point on the same side.
there you go, your EVO should now be around 6-8" above the ground.
GL and use caution whenever your underneath the car.

what you need my way is

two low profile plastic ramps, I also screwed one 2"x12" on the bottom of each ramp to clear my lowered front lip. (note the ramps are good to have to raise the car easily when ever you want to service the front end.
two jack stands.
one jack.

my jack stands are on the 7th notch, usually all you need is to lift the tires 5-6" above ground to service most items.

I am pretty sure the manual only shows jacking points to use the provided spare tire jack but I will look again when I can grab my manual. A picture of a jack or jack stands being used would be really helpful though.

I had to remove my wheels to paint them and was looking for the factory jack points, and there were no tabs under the rocker panels like on most any other cars ive seen. So I looked in the manual and I depicts tabs just where I thought they should be, under rocker panel just behind front tire and just in front of rear tire. So again I looked under the car and there was no such place. Anywhere that I attemped to put the jack under the rocker whould damage the side skirts. I ended up just putting the jack under the frame, but didnt feel to good about it.

sorry to bring this back to the top...

but is there a single jacking point to raise two wheels off the ground and put jack stands underneath?

I'm going to need to get the car up tonight. And ripping the engine covers off seems a little excessive to get the car up.

The guy that talks about ripping the undertray off and throwing it it away is off his rocker (and not an X owner, so why the hell is he in here anyway?).

I jack up one side, near the middle, on the seam that runs under the body. I then put a jackstand front and rear on the tabs that are there.

Drop the car onto that set of jackstands and repeat on the other side.

When I'm swapping tires at the track, I just to do the one side, then the other...

Hes an EVo owner trying to help. So he is welcome!

Doesn't sound to safe, but to each his own. Be careful.

Jack front, cut out opening in under tray to access central jacking point. Then jack up back from rear diff.

Good effort Good Game.....doesn't count for **** here. If you don't know what you're talking about and you are advising others on technical issues that could potentially damage their car GTFO. That is the blind leading the blind.

Now, if you do, not just think you do. please feel free to share your knowledge.

Sure, he's trying to help, but throwing away the undertray is not helping. It helps with underhood temps and protection, but at the very least you can sell it.

You can get a floor jack onto the pinch seam jacking points without hitting the skirt if you position it carefully. But not wanting steel on steel, I bought some 1" poly plastic blocks and put a 4x4 piece between the frame and jack. I previously used 2x4 blocks but the narrow edge of the pinch seam was breaking them. Still, wood might work if you ran the grain crossing the seam instead of parallel.

And the FSM does show single jacking points under the center of the engine bay and I think under the rear diff. I've never used them, so can't comment.

Maybe that flies on nasioc, but not here. His information was correct regarding the jack point and hardly will cause damage or injury. Please add to the discussion in an informative way or GTFO! As far as taking off and leaving the undertray off, not necessary. You can dremmel a small square area at the jack point. This will allow you to jack up front of car without having to take off tray again. This would be directly in front orf the hugh opening in the undertray already. Front first.......then back! Craftsman jsck and stands from Sears work great!
