Is there a way to remove the light bulbs in a SSS packaged HID Evo X without having to remove the bumper. I heard some people did it without removing the bumper. I got as far as removing the plastic cap enclosing the bulb but I have no clue what is next to remove whatever because I can't see inside of the housing. Does anyone know the next step after removing the plastic cap?

 

Changing headlights, even the HID bulbs, should be in the manual.

 

The manual only has instructions for non SSS Evo X meaning the non HID equipped Evo X

 

Same thing, diff bulb. If you have to take the bumper off for an incandescent (sp) bulb system, you'll have to do the same even if its an hid system.

 

drivers side you can go in from the cut out in fender to get to it from the top. Passenger side you have to go in through the fender splash shield.

 

From looking at the Evo8/9 forums with HID projectors, they had a step where they need to turn a socket counter-clockwise to remove ballast, and then there is some sort of spring clip that needs to be moved aside before the bulb can be taken off. I'm wondering if we have that same spring clip.

 

Yes same spring clip. DOn't have to remove ballast (it is on bottom of the light, just the plastic weather cover. twist and remove.

 

I did the same as Guru on the driver side but on the passenger side I just moved the AC High preasure line i believe a lil bit which is held on by 2 clips.. and then u can squeeze your hand on the back of the cover and remove the bulb.
