If you buy from a reputable vendor like Works, they will include instructions. I also have the shop manual, PM me your email and I can send you a copy. It's not hard but you need to have some mechanical ability and common sense otherwise you can hurt or kill yourself. A shop should not charge more than 2-3 hours of labor to do it for you. A few tips:

- Do not attempt to do it without a spring compressor, a really cheap one at O’Reilly Auto parts was $35 (but you get what you pay for)
- When you put the new springs on the struts you will need to torque the top nut and a bench vice will be helpful to clamp and hold the hat
- Remove the complete plastic shield for the battery compartment and the rear seat backrest to get easy access to the rear shock top nuts
- Zipty the rear seatbelts to the grab handles to keep them out of the way when you remove the seatback

I used the instructions from here http://https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/evo-x-how-tos-installations/335064-installing-bc-racing-coilovers-your-evo-x.html In order to remove the stock system. Then you can figuere out how to remove the spring from the strut on your own it's pretty simple.

Make sure you grab the shaft of the strut from the top flat part when removing the nut on the top of the shock assembly.

do you just tighten it as much as you can or do you properly torque the bolts?

I've been working on vehicles for over 10 years now so I use air tools for everything and feel it out. There are specs for everything in the service manuals, so I have to say go by that.

it's probably not safe on what i did..but with the front struts, i loosened the top strut bolt while it was still bolted to the car, just enough that it turned..coz it was going to be a pain to take that bolt out if you take the whole assembly off the car first.

the rear struts were hard to take out because of the way the trunk was on the evo x..there were walls welded around the strut so some of the nuts were hard to reach around and take out, you have to be patient with it. once they were out i the strut bolts can be taken out once the springs were copressed unlike the front struts.

those were the 2 things you're probably gonna run into and go "oh crap i shoulda done this first" kinda thing if it's the first time you're doing it.

i did it all by myself and i would say it took me around 6 hours (no hurries) to do everything. it's a pretty straight forward install, you just have to be careful since it involves compressing springs.

Why did I not think of that? Good idea. Then when you put it back just put a jack under it to compress it some and then do the final torque.

im dreading doing the evo. My wrx was a major PITA.

Too bad there not as easy as a hatchback civic - 30-45 minutes to install coilovers with airtools.
