Request for help – SST console cover removal

Hey all,

I’ve got a Ralliart Sportback and was attempting to remove the console the weekend to check for some wire sources. I thought I would post my question here due to more traffic and I believe the part in question is shared across trim/model levels.

So the plate the shows what gear you are in that covers the SST lever. I could not figure out how to remove the ring/leather cover from the transmission lever. I managed to remove the screws and the tabs, but without removing from the lever, I could not remove the part. Which in turn caused issues with removing the console and accessing the other areas I wanted to look into. I’m used to a manual where you just lift off the leather cover piece once you take off the shifter knob.

So any help in what I need to do to properly remove this cover from the transmission lever would be appreciated.

This should help you: http://www.twmperformance.com/manual...all-manual.pdf

TWM's installation guide for a short-shifter on a GSR, but my guess is everything will come apart in a similar fashion.

While I appreciate the link, that isn't getting to what I need. On the manual tranmission in the short shifter installation, the leather bag just lifts off. In the SST, the bag is connected to a ring that "lifts" when pulling the transmission out of "Park". This ring connection/disconnection is what I can't figure out. So I'm still looking for that information.

Undoo the button at the front of the boot it's at the top right where the ring meets the leather boot.

Like "greydragon" said, the leather boot has a metal snap button on the front. Once you undo that, the leather boot has a large enough opening to slip up over the shifter...

I just did this yesterday on my 2010 RA

90 degree garage slowing my thinking ... and no matter how well lit just doesn't lighten up that dark interior enough for these old eyes. Checked it on the way home. I should be good to go now. Thanks all.
