APT UICP Install

Haven't seen anyone really comment on this pipe so I figured I'd post my install from today for the hell of it. It's a one piece pipe but does not go all the way to the IC. The pipe coming up from the IC remains stock. Just the top rubber piece going across the engine is being replaced.

The installation is very simple so I won't even get into that. I do want to comment on fitment. It's not great, but with some elbow grease I got it to fall into place. The couplers could be a bit longer to allow better fitment. It did not come with clamps so I ordered those separate. I tightened them pretty darn good so there should be no misbehaving under high boost.

Overall, I can't really complain. $100 shipped got me what I needed. Most other pipes charge more for wrinkle black but this comes that way anyway which works perfectly for me. So unless this thing spontaneously combusts on me, I would definitely recommend it.

Came with some nice double bubble wrapping and two plain black silicone couplers. (no clamps)

In your face close-up. I really like the finish.

You are all familiar with this.

Off to the shed you go.

Intercooler side.

Turbo side.

I used 2.5" t-bolt clamps on the IC side.

I used a 2.5" t-bolt clamp on the UICP and a 2" t-bolt clamp on the stock piece coming off the turbo.

And voila.

Installed mine today also, I didn't think the fitment was all that bad. Did not tighten the clamps enough though, started to squeal under boost ... and stunk like hell ... gas fumes ... weird the smell was pretty strong.

All fixed, I did notice a bit faster/smoother accel/spool ... overall, not bad for the $$

I'm looking to do this next too. Now I know what clamps to order. Did you get a good deal on them?

Thanks

Mike

Most heavy machinery companies or diesel mechanic/performance places carry them as well. I just called a few local places and sure enough, cheap too. Got SS t-bolt clamps for $2.75 each (2.5'')

Remove the plastic cover to expose the entire lower piece and use a several ratchet extensions to reach the bolts holding the piece to the FMIC.
