How-To: Greddy Turbo Timer

Hey Everyone,

This is my first write up ever so I thought I would make it an easy one

First this is what you'll need:

Greddy Turbo Timer (retails for $100+ bought mine for $35 off ebay)
Greddy Turbo Timer Harness (Sold Seperatly... retails for $18+ bought mine off project_skyline on the forum for $12)

First Thing you need to do is remove the negative battery terminal (for safety purposes)

Then you need to lower your steering wheel as low as it can go and leave the lever unlocked

Then you need to lift the top plastic cover off of the steering column

Size: 107.1 KB

Size: 120.3 KB

Once you do that take out the two screws on the lower plastic cover and remove it (this ones takes some faness because of the adjustment lever)

Size: 73.6 KB

Once you've done that locate the ignition harness on the left side of the steering column

Name: IMG_3634.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 92.3 KB

then remove the harness

Size: 107.6 KB

now you can attach the option harness which i would totally recommend so that you don't have to cut up that many wires!!

it looks like this:

Size: 188.7 KB

harness is connected

Size: 95.4 KB

At this point I would put back the lower half of the plastic steering column cover

Size: 73.6 KB

now take your Greddy Turbo Timer,

Size: 202.9 KB

....and connect the white harnesses together

once you do that start to tuck the excess wires so that they will be covered by the steering column cover, then take the ground wire and feed it through to where the pedals are to ground the wire.

**note that there is small black harness on the turbo timer that is meant for the optional parking break and speed sensor feature** i didn't install these because i didn't want to to splice into the ECU just yet until i'm sure of which pin to tap

Size: 104.3 KB

To ground the wire I used the bolt at the bottom left of fuse box under the dash

Size: 100.8 KB
Name: IMG_3648.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 120.3 KB
(the second wire with the blue is for my fuse tap block that i made for my gauge install next week)

Once you've grounded the wired put the top of the steering column cover back on with the Greddy Turbo Timer head unit hanging out

Size: 118.0 KB

Then just get some doubble sided tape to hold it down

Size: 122.1 KB

And your done

Hope this write up was usefull if you have any questions just post them right here and i'll try and answer them with the best of my ability

Also I will probably install the optional parking break and speed sensor wires soo so i will add that to the write when i do that

Thanks for the write up. I guess this doesn't work if you have the fast key? The car needs to be off to lock the doors..

this should still work even with fast key... the only difference is putting the key in the ignition as opposed to the plastic nub that fast key comes with... and you can lock your doors even if the car is on... the lights just take a while to turn off

What do you mean by you "just can't get it to work??" does it turn on then turn off imidiatly or does it not leave the car running when you turn the ignition off??

If you have fast key your going to have issues with it -_-

I tried installing one on my boys X who has fast key and i've been running into these issues as well... trying to figure them out... its probably gonna take some time since school started now and that takes up the majority of my life again =/ but i'll get back to you guys if we solve something

But my theory at the moment is that the fast key wire harness is wired differently which is almost a given and that to make it work we have to tap into different wires... but i'll be able to confim that when I take a closer look a diagram for the ignition harness

ebrake wire is under the center console. pop the center console cover off making sure you leave the center console compartment open (thats where you start poppin it out). its just a bunch of clips holding it so it just pops up. disconnect AWC switch. theres the ebrake wire!

If youre having trouble getting the turbo timer to stay on after you back out of the ignition then do the following:

-if you DID NOT connect the speed and rpm sensor wires on a turbo timer with those features you HAVE TO turn the auto function off on the turbo timer, check your user manual if you dont know how

-if you connected the speed and rpm sensor wire recheck your wiring diagram and make sure good taps were made on all the correct wires including the e-brake wire

mine used to turn the car off as soon as i turned the key off. i have fastkey as well. greddy full auto turbo timer II with the harness. i found the problem though. you have to switch the turbo timer mode from "IG" to "ACC". you do this by holding down "P" until youre in the settings menu. then press "S" until you get to where it says "IG" then hold down "T" for a couple seconds till it switches to "ACC". you should get a confirmation beep if your settings for Sound is on. anyways, once i did this, everything worked okay. the reason you have to switch modes is because our cars with fastkey have two "ON" wires instead of one "ON" and one "ACC". once the timer starts counting down, proceed to get out. some say you have to roll the window down, close the door, then lock the car by reaching in (making sure your fastkey is picked up by the car for the doors to lock) and hitting lock. i found an easier way. 1. turn your headlights off (the auto off function for headlights wont work because the door switch will already be closed (read on) but i mean, how hard is it to remember to turn your lights off lol). 2. open the door. 3. manually press down the door switch in (making sure all other doors are closed) (located near door striker) and then push LOCK. 4. release the switch. 5. (make sure you have your keys in your pocket) get out, close the door, and walk away smiling! hope i helped out a bit =)
