Hks Demo Car
I'm pretty sure that the car in the picture is not the same car about which the specifications are. From what I understand, HKS Kansai has 2 Evo X's - one is an RS with a manual tranny and the other one is a GSR with an SST. The picture shown is of the RS which has the black mirrors and door handles and wears 18" Advans and a picture of the GSR just hasn't been posted yet...
herein lies the problem. if HKS does actually have said GSR SST and it is making said power, then that proves that the SST is sturdy enough to take more torque and not as hard to tune as some feared. BUT, why haven't we seen a pic of it? we see specs before a pic? weird huh?
If HKS is simply using the numbers from the RS and simply saying the SST can handle it too, then that may prove to be a big mistake later on if the SST isn't up to snuff. a completely believable scenario since somebody went to the getrag site and found a DSG tranny, very similar to the SST, that can only handle 300-something ft lbs. of tq
another similar scenario is the UK FQ versions. they ARE mitsu, so they of course have SST's available to tune. BUT they have only announced the FQ versions without the SST. even if SST isn't available yet, they COULD have announced it but state that it is to be released later on. not out of the ordinary to do so. but they haven't.
i'd love to see the SST be as good as the versions used on the GTR and Veyron, etc. but so far no one knows. at this point, skepticism is not a bad thing with all the info we have thus far.
WOOT FOUND ONE^^^^
OMG I DON'T HAVE AN X YET!!!??? WTF I DON'T HAVE AN X, OH SHI&, I DON'T HAVE AN X!!!??? So being excited about a car automatically makes me a fanboi, and here I thought that going to other cars forums and bashing their cars for no good reason (kinda like the Evo XIII & IX guys do) would make me a fanboi.

ok but here's the thing. the RS we have pictures of. the GSR with SST we don't. is it completely impossible to imagine a scenario where HKS uses the power gains they have made with the RS and automatically assume it's gonna be the same with the GSR which they may or may not have since mitsu hasn't sold the SST yet???

Then again, HKS Kansai never posts too many pictures of their cars, so they might have posted of pic of their RS, which has already seen a lot of action, just for reference.
Just so you know, I'm not trying to argue here as I agree with what you had to say, I'm just making assumptions.
HKS supposedly has very close ties with Mitsu so i would not be surprised if they have a X with SST to test, not only that but a hybrid RS with SST.
if i was buddy. buddy with the management at Mitsu Japan, i could have an X RS with brembos, and SAWD, and SST if i wanted.
oh yeah, and black mirrors

Good argument, but I don't believe the HKS would make such a stupid irresponsible mistake. Maybe it's just a typo or something, who knows...

If you look at a lot of the vendor numbers and codes on the Stock components you would see Kansai Service (i.e. radiator, HVAC system).
If you make most of the stock components for a manufacturer then you will probably be able to request any configuration of a stock car that you want.

Every magazine review disagrees with you, the evo x is a much more stylish and modern car. All the X above has is rims and it looks much better than that last generation evo you posted. The headlight, the front, the side profile all are better... the rear is debatable..

Better overall......
I just filled in the blank with my opinion. That's all.
Style isn't everything.
Every magazine is in the business to describe the car for it's overall value for it's purpose on the market. The point I'm trying to make is Mitsubishi took a car and changed it to broaden it's sales perspective. Rather than taking a good thing (The raw and pure racers car) and made it into a mixing pot of ease of driving and creature comforts.
Better overall......
