Aluminum roofs + sunroofs = NOPE

 

^That's the most dissapointing thing about the X. Might be a small detail to everyone else but I love sunroofs.

Can aftermarket ones be installed? What do those go for?

 

well, considering that the car is a pig compared to the last, they had to shim weight anywhere they could, so they got this idea to introduce the "race inspired lightweight" roof to play of for the cars obvious obesity.

 

Makes sense, just a tad dissapointing.

So what made this Evo heavier? Just the bigger body?

 

To be specific, the sunroof and steel roof only comes on the MR Premium (fully loaded version) in Canada. The regular MR (no nav, basically) and GSR get the aluminum roof without the sunroof.

As for what makes the new EVO heavier than old, try seven airbags. Each airbag weighs 12.5kgs..Also, the new car benefits from more structural reinforcement than the IX in areas of chassis rigidity.

 

Not to mention the extra 16 lbs of sound deadening in the MR.
