New install: OEM back-up camera
i think its safe to assume there was some drilling involved in this either to attach the camera and the housing (could be attached with double adhesive as well) OR the passage of the wire from the outside to the inside of the trunk and onto the nav.
Sorry I don't like the OEM camera setup on these cars. Like everyone else stated, I'm going with aftermarket, and right above the liscense plate. I've test mounted it, and you can barely see it (which I like because it will hopefully draw less attention for theives.)
Whether you like it or not, this is the factory location same as the JDM Evo X. It makes perfect sense to mount there so you can actually see the rear bumper.
You will need 3 parts for this mod: the camera, body-coloured cover, and the wiring harness. The installation manual comes with a template which is used for drilling the holes on the trunk. Other than that, its just a matter of running the lines from the Navi to the trunk by popping the plastic covers and removing the rear seats. It is a direct PnP unit with no cutting required, your factory Navi already has a plug ready to accept this cable. The camera itself is actually made by Clarion, picture quality is very good and you can see very clearly even at night with the reverse light on. Its such a convenient accessory that makes backing up and parking so much easier.
