Only illegal in Virginia and Washington DC and in all commercial vehicles! In california, minnesota and NY they are if they obstruct the view of windshield or affixed to windshield.

That look's awesome for a DIY, great job...O and BTW I don't know if thats always where you keep your RD but you might want to reposition it since it looks like its pointed off to the left and the radar sensor thing is located on the front, so the middle of the windshield may be a better spot...( I have a V1 so maybe it's set-up differently than yours... either way it's just a heads up).
