Red out fast key and brake light

I have always hated the big shiny fast-key button on the back of my X, so I ordered some Oracal 8300 graphic film, color code 031 from Pacific Coast Paint (same stuff I used to red-out the tails on my RSX). Installation was pretty easy, 6 plastic snaps to remove the trunk insulation, 1 metal pressure clip to remove the fast key module, and 2 10mm bolts to remove the brake light. The hardest part is getting the vinyl to form over curves without folding too much, it helps to heat it up with a hair dryer. It matches RR pretty well and would take 5-10 mins to remove if needed, so I'm happy with it. Now I just need to decide if I should remove the mitsu emblem...

did u have to take out the fast key button in order to do this or could it be done while still attached to the trunk? How do I find out what paint code film I need for my GG lancer.

i took mine out so I could wrap the vinyl around the edge of the fast key button, but if you only wanted to go to the edge of it you could leave it on. It seriously only took about 5 mins to remove though.

Yes I did. My initial plan was to cut out a hole for the black rubber button, but after applying the vinyl I just left it. I'll see if I can get a closer shot, these were the best my iPhone could do this morning...

I was thinking about it, but not sure how well the vinyl will contour to the shape of the taillights. I love the way the prototype X looks:

okay, here's some close ups with an SLR (not perfect, but you cannot notice unless you get this close):

I like the way the brake light looks. Not sure about the trunk button though, it might look better from further away since it probably blends it into the car better.

Either way, good idea.
