My question:

Will the Evo 8/9 wing directly bolt up to an Evo x trunk?


Reason:

Don't like the gsr or mr wings or aftermarket wings and the do-luck trunk bill is kinda pricey. I have seen a picture of a RR Evo x with an RR Evo 8/9 wing and I am asking anyone who has replaced an 8/9 wing on their evo and then bought an x and seen the same bolt pattern?

i actually saw that in one of the threads.. in a canadian meet it looked pretty sexy i kind of want some more pictures if i were to decide..

 

someone with some photoshop skills work your magic and whip up a picture..

There are a couple of X's out there with the 8/9 wing. I didn't have any luck searching for those threads either, hopefully someone will post the links or pictures up here.

eh i personally dont think it flows with the X body at all..i think the SSS wing and even the small wing in some cases look really good on the X

 

Looking at the photos from the link, it seems that the bolt holes for the VIII/IX will end up too close to the edge. I think that for the people who like the look, maybe the TRD wing for the last gen celicas might be better; its the same stile but the mounting holes are closer together.

 

I don't like it.

 

Evo 8/9 wing looks small on the Evo X

 

since no one answered any of your questions... The evo 8/9 wing is not a direct bolt on for the evo x trunk..

My buddy got the evo 9 wing on his evo x but 2 of the holes were direct fit but he had to drill 2 new holes for the other 2...

As for my self... I got evo 8 wing and not even 1 was a direct fit.. Had to drill 4 new holes on my trunk... hope that answers your question....

Everyone has different opinions with the 8/9 wing on the evo x but to me, it looks good...

 

I was having the same problem with the rear wing, then some one on this forum suggested the damd rear spoiler pieces, i saw the picture and liked them , they go on the ends of the mr spoiler with a gurney flap on top, the fit and finish is great, you might want to look at that option as well

 

haha thank you I love the look of the 8/9 wing on an X and feel it doesnt take away any lines or flow. I am looking into a RR evo X and hoping that the 8/9 RR is very similar. Btw I was also looking into getting the do-luck one but thats a whole lot of money for a college student and would much rather see that go towards performance anyhow.
