evo x paint scratchy?

i know mitsu doesn't use the highest quality paints, but my car is 2 weeks old while washing my car last weekend, i felt that the paint was scratchy...like sand paper!

my gf's 08 bmw, that's already seen one canadian winter, her paint is smooth and waxy to the touch. like she's got 10 clear coats on.

is this normal for the evo? i know they're prone to scratches, but should the paint feel like high grit sandpaper to the touch?

mitsubishi uses cheap paints.. they are thin and the scratches are known issues..

The paint sucks. Scratches like crazy for every little thing. I have mine at the dealer for 3 scratches that i dunno how it got there. I had my evo for 2 months and its garaged never parked in the street or outside and only has 400 miles. Mitsu Paint sucks.

you need to use a clay bar to get the paint smooth again. I think most people ***** to much about the paint, take care of it the proper way and it should hold up just fine.

It shouldn't feel like that. I think you need to use claybar like the poster above me suggested

mine is only two weeks old also and my paint feels like what you described, even after a wax. I guess it's from something like tree sap or just junk in the air from sitting on the lot for a year+. I'm going to try the claybar like ^^ suggested this weekend probably.

I clay barred my car not long after I bought it and the paint felt a lot smoother, so that should take care of the "gritty" feeling in your paint. Take your time with the clay bar and the paint will look and feel great.
