I disagree, it's pretty hard to beat the weight of the aluminum hood, stock is better IMO, no need to pay hundreds of dollars to downgrade. Just paint the trunk, it would look much better.
I don't think the OP was being malicious, just saw a strange looking Evo and wanted to share.
As for the looks, like I said, a painted trunk would look much better IOM, also less vinyl. The wing looks strange, but I've seen stranger, matching paint (on the whole wing) would also go a long way here.
Just my 2 cents, in the end, it's your car so do what you want.

Yes, the hood is already light. With the CF trunk and Evo VII wing with gutted trunk, shaved in excess of 50lbs.. Your right, painting it will make it look better - and that's already planned.. just have to test out some more stuff!

I agree, I wouldn't take off a perfectly good aluminum hood to put on an ill fitting, cheap, heavier wet carbon hood. A lighter dry carbon maybe, but they are wildy expensive. I guess it is odd to not paint it though. For some reason its okay to have an unpainted CF hood and regular trunk, but not vice versa.
And I definitely don't like the Evo 8/9 wing on the X.

Wow funny. Now everybody's saying how bad the wing looks but on an earlier thread you got a bunch of people saying that the evo9 wing looks better on the X then the one that came with the x.
