Trunk dampner for Evo X??

Hi, does anyone know if the Lancers have a trunk dampner and if its less stiff as the Evo X ones, since they come wingless from the factory?
Reason for asking is I plan on doing the Do luck trunk and the OEM ones like to shoot the trunk up fast and also harder to close when the Wing is not there anymore. (yes I am that picky)

I had similar issues back when I had my Evo IX and took the wing off. Scared the poop out of me the first time I popped the trunk and it slammed open.

I have not heard of any aftermarket dampeners for the trunk (only for the hood). I guess the stock Lancer ones might work, but I can't confirm if they are any less stiff.

I took my OEM one's off. It felt like they were placing too much pressure on the trunk. The trunk stays open fine without them. Just don't leave it open on windy days.

Can you take one off and leave the other one on?

That would put stress on only one side when closing the trunk. The DoLuck is so light and thin that I wouldn't even chance it. I never really use my trunk anyway. Its stripped. How many of you do?

Is there any replacement dampeners that are shorter in length than stock?

Reason being my rear spoiler is touching the rear glass at fully open, so I have to be very careful.

You can go to your local auto parts store, almost every decent size auto parts store sells them in lots of different lengths and gas power I guess u could say. The stock ones are 280N.

LVSBB6 I've seen them at Lordco, they can order in pretty much any lenght and power that is available.

Thanks for your input! I found one that fits perfectly with shorter length that does the job

Not to be a grammar ****, but there is no such thing as a "dampener". The proper term is "damper". While a damper does damp or dampen, it isn't a dampener.

Hey I know this has nothing to do with the OP but if you want to fix your friends trunk you can take the tension bars that the trunk uses and bend them back a little to reduce their tension. It will make your trunk open nice an smooth. I have done it to many of my friends STis that have swapped to wingless or a carbon trunk.

Johann @ Girodisc

On the OP aren't there dampers on ether side of the EVO X Trunk. I use to have hood dampers on my hood of my WRX wagon and when I swapped to carbon I just took one off and it was perfect. Our trunk is steal so we left both on but I bet taking one off would do the trick.
