For me, I used plasti-dip because I didn't want to permanently paint the area. With PD, you can simply peel it off, and your paint is still good underneath. And it pretty much acts like a rock chip protectant.

I'm having mine repainted some form of glossy black.

The rest of the car will be satin black. All the plastic currently on the car will either be painted or replaced with a carbon fiber part.

But isn't Plasti-dip almost exactly the same color as the unpainted black area?

I really want it to be normal shiny paint, not matte.

Plasti-dip looks good, but its hard to maintain IMO. The rubberized texture is prone to grab road debris. It would have been alot better if it actually had a hardened plastic texture..

I did the same thing, shaved the emblem off myself and used the duplicolor bumper paint. Did you paint the lower black lip as well? I wanted everything to be the same, so I did as well.

Thanx frankiago I took my time with it.
And drastic I did paint everything I wanted it all to match. I'm going to paint it with the bumper coater when it starts to wear if it ever does

My car is a MR Touring, which comes with a chrome frame and grey front piece. I had those pieces piece painted matte black, the mesh grill painted gloss black and the star MR chrome red:

I had red emblems when I first got my car. I eventually felt that it looked cheap, which is how I feel about yours up there. Same thing with the blacking out of the emblems. It looks cheap. Either cut it off or leave it be.
