STM's Number Ten (2011 WW SSL)

That's all I got right now for pictures, (Emery stalked me at the gas station
) but I have some very nice pictures I'll get together tomorrow. It really is a beautiful car. It makes me realize what I miss from driving the X and what I appreciate. Also made me see again how sexy the X is going down the road
It really is a gorgeous car. I'll give her a bath this weekend and take some more pictures if the weather is nice. A few days ago I washed a black IX right in front of her! Then today, spent all day getting the bugs off the GSX... while her front bumper was a crime scene. It's like petting one cat while the other just sits there giving you "the look."
She needs love.
lol^^
I will admit, we haven't really pushed "STM" on the X community. I guess we just need the drive to do it. We've had a few X's in the shop as projects. One hit the One Lap of America and placed very well running an STM built GTX30R turbo kit along with a STM fuel surge tank and a lot of other parts.
Another local X is running an Exedy twin, Tomei cams, STM intake, STM tuned... His goal is to take the stock turbo X record.
Now, I JUST (like my fingers are still wrinkled) went outside and washed a beautiful black on black Evo IX... much like petting a very loved cat EXACTLY like the one that just died
BUT.
I kinda like the X.
That black VIII I had will ALWAYS be my favorite (aside from Ricer of course) but we've definitely proved "STM can do that" with the VIII-IX.
8 second "street car"
9 second, full weight daily
First stock motor in the 9's
Still holding onto the highest trap speeds on a stock block
Not to mention the 500+ HP evo's out there daily driving
and currently building a stock turbo/stock motor potential 9 second evo.
I think it's time for the X to...

Sorry I haven't had much going on lately. Been too busy to get out and take new pictures at cool locations, and nothing has changed on the car except the odometer! Almost to 20k!!
Here's a few pictures from the 2011 DSM Shootout (and if you missed it, you can see the other 400 I took HERE.)

Reflections in the white paint.
White is so often unappreciated.
Duragloss 101. She may not be fast but she's freakin clean.
lol at my 4 engine bay mods. Yeah, that's right boys, that's a HKS blow off valve. Watch out!

^^And I got my *** handed to me.
There-in lies my problem. I am surrounded by STM Evo's. And I am constantly comparing this X to my last VIII, which is completely unfair. Some days I want to put this car into a tree because I miss the black car, and some days I love the white car and think of all the obnoxious things the black car did.
For one thing, I know I will never be able to go back to a DSM (at least not as my main love). No HID's. It's that simple. (I don't believe in FAKE-ID's. They look terrible.)
If I was to drive a stock VIII vs the X... the VIII is a pile of $hit. I am comfortable saying that.
But at the track... the 4g63's are DOMINATING with mild mods. Granted, I do need practice... but apparently I also need a clutch. I do not like being at the bottom of the totem pole. In the black car, no one would race me because I'd destroy them, in the white car no one will race me... because they would be wasting their time.
So... build the X?
But then I'm right back with the complete opposite reason I like the car... quiet and comfortable. That Exedy twin is not going to be fun on my skinny left thigh, and nothing like the triple in the black car, then I have to deal with exhaust tickets and BS... But I remember the difference between driving a fast car slow and a slow car fast. The black car I always drove slow, loved the sound of it, the feel of it, the low growl just before the turbo spools enough to put that whine into your ears. I constantly felt like I was doing something wrong... I liked that.
But the X, in order to have fun, you kinda have to be doing something wrong. Turns and high speeds aren't exactly keeping me out of trouble.
Then I browse through the X engine bay thread... these engine bays are BUTT UGLY. Sorry guys, but they are either all bling and flash and powdercoat, or stripped, scratched and racecar'd out. The design of the bay just is not appealing. WTF was Mitsu thinking?
I keep hating on this car, but if I was put back in a stock VIII, with those clear taillights, I might throw up.
Sorry for the bizarre post. I have some strangely vivid dreams and my allergy medicine doesn't help. I was in a very odd place last night and I got thinking about the X. I get stressed out when I have to change vehicles. Emery threatened to buy a STI
That'll be a fun rant.
So, and thank you for staying with me through this long post, I think the solution to all the problems is to build the X. I've been blessed enough to have experienced a lot of nice, fast and beautiful cars. Every one I've loved has been remembered, and I am sure there will be plenty more to come.
I think STM could do something about the BUTT *** UGLY engine bay design problem.
10's or bust.

I say just get a black 9 like you want Shawna! lol
I hear you on always wanting something else though. No matter what my evo will do, I wont ever be completely happy with it. I want a 1g dsm again bad. Big power, cheaper parts, paid for, cheap insurance lol. The list goes on lol.
Compromise a bit. Get a black 9, but dont go all out like you guys did on your old 8. My 9 puts down mid 400s to the wheels. Its a lot of fun, yet its smooth, fairly quiet and easily driven around town still.
Black IX FTW!!!

No question, i love the x's. My g/f's X se is great to drive. Its 100% stock still. It will prolly remain that way for a good while. I liek to drive it no doubt. If I want a fast car, I get an 8 or 9. lol
