'11 Evo X: Let the modding begin!
'11 Evo X: Let the modding begin!
I picked up a 2011 Evo X GSR back in December. I have a tendency to switch cars quickly but I wanted this car to be a long term project so I searched high and low to get the exact options I wanted.
First Impressions:
As someone who has owned an VIII, IX, and X at this point, I can definitively say that the X is the best as a daily driver. I wanted the amenities this time and the X provided that (cruise control, heated seats, ipod hookup, etc.) I have the usual complaints (notchy trans, poor gas mileage, high revs under cruising conditions) but I'm extrememly happy overall.
Pics from when I picked it up:

The modding process started on Day 2 w/ the debadging:

I had a hard time deciding whether to start with power or handling/aesthetics. Given that the car only has 2,000 miles at this point, I decided to keep the warranty (for what it's worth) for a while longer and start with the suspension. I wanted a set of quality coilovers that would handle daily driving duties and spirited driving/an occasional track day. KW V2's seem to be the go-to for a lot of people, but I decided to go with AMR Engineering for the coilovers. Andy and crew built me a setup suited for my needs (5500k springs, pillowball mounts, camber plates). I couldn't be happier with the quality of the setup and the personal support from Andy.

I also decided to go ahead and finish off my exterior mods and pick up my wheels now as well. I'm a firm believer that wheels can make or break a car so I had a hard time choosing. In the end, I went with Advan RG-D's (18x10.5 +15) in matte black with 275-35 Bridgestone RE960's.

We installed the suspension this weekend (thank god for good friends
). I still have to get an alignment and get the camber dialed in. After the camber is dialed in I'll probably drop the rear a little more to even it out, but the rears still rub until the camber is adjusted more (the rear fenders have already been rolled and slightly pulled). Here's a few pics from today:

That's it for now. More to come in the future!

haha I would but I think I'm gonna keep my stockers as winter wheels and just sell the stock tires.
The quality of the seats is pretty good. The leather seats were a must for me so no complaints there. Only time will tell how well they hold up in terms of both the leather and the bolsters.
