Some people should just not drive

IDK if anyone has seen this, but dear good he does not deserve this car. How is it even possible to crash it in a hour? Just proves age dosen't matter.

There are allegations that he was trying to get rid of it since he was going to be paying $100,000+ in taxes. He was trying to commit fraud.

If taxes were an issue, why did he not take out a loan and then sell the lambo and pay taxes off, he would still profit from the whole transaction.

i highly doubt taxes on a $200,000 car is $100,000. Besides if you want to total a car for insurance a field isn't the way to do it, then again some aren't that smart..... He definitely doesn't deserve that car!

This. What he did just...doesn't make any sense.

Sweepstakes/prize winnings must be reported in addition to your other sources of income on your federal tax return. As such, this guy would owe up to $75-80k on this car he won, even if state and local taxes were already covered. That's what the big downside of winning that big of a prize is unless you are a millionaire anyway.

Sell it as noted above. Even with paying the taxes on the sale + taxes you call out, he ends out ahead

I would of done the same thing (or maybe drove it into a brick wall) if I had to pay $100k in taxes after winning something. But then again I live in Canada....

I lose respect for Jalopnik by the day. Insinuating that this guy tried to commit insurance fraud? Seriously? He's just an average guy that got an exotic car and crashed it because he doesn't know how to handle it. That's it. Move on, folks.
