Touch up paint pen advice
Hello all, I have oem touchup paint pen and am going to touch up a few small scratches/chips...I am just looking for advice/tips....I am going to wash car and dry before but was wondering is less more in regards to paint pen? should I do multiple touchups or one? Thanks in advance...
scratches will probably buff out or wetsand/buff
touch up pens apply a lot of paint all at once. You're better off with a real color matched lacquer and touch-up dabbers. I have a bunch of D06 Octane Blue paint, I can pour your some to use if you want, no charge. Dab it lightly little bits at a time, wait about 15 minutes between coats. Finish with clear coat but using a clear coat pen. Dab the pen onto paper, then use a real touch up dabber to put the clear on.
To prep it, you don't need to wash/dry the whole car, just the area where you're touching up.. If you can get some grease/wax remover, use that. If not, rubbing alcohol. Those little pits get full of wax over the years and it makes paint not hold well.
