GSR interior upgrade to leather
OEM mitsubishi leather seat covers, door inserts and console cover. It was the first time the dealer had tried to order these and we thought we were getting the MR seats but these were a little different (they think we got the FQ360 seat covers) as they lack the suede in the center but actually I am kind of happy about it because I don't have to worry about keeping the suede nice. Anyway a big improvement IMHO..now feels like a 30K car inside. Price was $1300 installed.

eh... do you slip around a lot now? that and temperature issues are my reasons against leather
man looks nice. Did you just order it from the dealer? Part #s? Price?
thanks |
1300 Installed? Damn! part numbers ASAP!
I will have to get the part numbers from the dealer.

From the picture it looks smooth but the leather is textured so it grips pretty nicely....for temp I have heated seats installed. |
Looks good.
very nice!!
looks very nice

+1 for part# I need that!
very nice!
wow impressive, i never knew this option existed, and i cant believe its so cheap...if anyone has any information on the MR style seat covers with the suede (if this exists) lemme know
Looks great, but I agree with one of the previous posters about the temperature. Its so much cooler in the car with cloth, so I'm pretty happy as is.
I might feel the same if I lived in southern CA instead of Cleveland..... Hot wearther not such an issue :)
I like it! looks great
wow, nice
$1300 installed in REALLY CHEAP for leather. This price amazes me. Congrats on the leather man, looks great!!!!
So, what about the airbags in the seats? I know that in previous cars with airbags in the seats, it required special stitching in order to allow the airbag to release.
Since these are an OEM part, I bet it's OK, but I just wondered. And I wonder if you'll get the leather/cloth pulling out around the head rest insert? I would have been interested to see how that portion installs... |
Looks really nice! Good deal for $1300 installed.
+1 for part numbers. I'll probably do just the door inserts for now. |
Hi guys...to answer your questions...
Airbags should work fine as they are Mistu seats installed by a Mistu shop. I will try and post more closeups today so you can see the detail. I am not sure that you can get just the inserts as I think it is a "package". |
Stay tuned for pictures of my custom 2-tone leather interior. I promise...... will blow away those leather seats from Mitsu. Looks like directly from the factory. Awaiting wifey back from vacation with the digital camera. Did I mention AME Circular-R rims and Toyo tires too???:D
Not in a contest...BTW, are they the seats with the red/black?
I emailed Don Herring and he called the package: "Mitsubishi Certified Leather Interior" for those of you asking your parts desk for this.
He said the price sounded about right. |

so was the leather a slip on or completely new seats? and also, how did you get heated seats? i need heated seats in my car for the harse winters...
The leather looks great!!!!
i have a strong suspicion that these are not actually MITSUBISHI leather covers.. but rather a dealer's "twist of words" on aftermarket leather... The price matches what aftermarket companies would normally charge for aftermarket leather... I could be wrong, but I dont think these are actually a Mitsubishi part. |
nice the leather looks really sweet and you dont have to worry about suede.
did he post the part numbers? How hard would this be to DYI ? |
How come it doesn't have the Recaro logo on the seats?

I was just busting everyone's balls. :D Your seats actually look awesome{thumbup} .......just playing around. If I had know that those were available...... I would have purchased them myself. Funny........ how did you know mine were black and red???? I had them black with red inserts on the seat and back. The door panels were red also. The shift boot red with black piping. I am going to post pictures as soon as I get the digital camera back! BTW...... I had an after-market company do the work. They did a great job....... but for $2300.
They talked to me about those seats when I ordered these...but I did not know they were $2300. I have seen them in a couple of cars and they look pretty nice. I just wanted to be a little more conservative. Trying to get time to post the picts I took today but hard to right now while I am trying to move. {thumbdwn} For those wanting parts numbers, contact Moe at Sam Swope Mitsubishi (google it). He is the one that did all the leg work in getting these together for me. |
bump for more pics jimm!!!:D
P/N or ban :p
Looks awesome, first mod here i go. {thumbup} |
Wow, they really enhance the look of the car. I will keep these in mind when I pick up my Evo X. So these came with seat heaters? Or where they another part number? $1300 for all that is a good price from your dealer.
very interesting! thanks for pointing out the mitsu logo. I wonder why I have never heard of these... did they invoice you for the leather? If so, the part numbers should be listed on that....
thanks for sharing btw. They definitely look great! |
WOW! Looks great!
that really does do wonders for the interior (especially the console and door inserts). Nice!!!!
o/t but we have cup holders in the back?
I like it but i think i would hold off doing it since the interior is still newer. no point covering up a "nice" interior.

but anyways, im so getting these when i get my evo.
Can you please provide us with the name of your dealership and who you worked with so we can investigate these leather covers?
You have to understand our skepticism, $1300 is very cheap. Chances are high that our own dealerships will charge much more than that. The more info you can provide us, the more leverage we will have to get the same work done for the same price. Thanks! |

Well look at it this way, you cover the "new" interior an add the leathers, when the leathers start messing up, uncover it and you still have a "new" suede along with seats :)
nonetheless seatcovers will only protect it at a certain point, cant expect that once seatcovers are removed the suede would still be in pristine shape. this is based on years of using seatcovers. hence i would rather the OEM suede gradually lose its quality than cover it up now. either way i am sure its a win win situation. {thumbup} |
You can call Moe at Sam Swope Mitsubishi (502-499-3844).
BTW, the seat covers replace the cloth seat covers that come with the car...In other words, it turns the seats you have into "real" leather seats. Sorry I have not been able to find the invoice, I have been moving this week and I don't know where most of my things are at the moment....on the up side, in the first real highway test of my EVO I got 25 MPG doing 80. :) |
man looking forward to a part # me living in canada i am looking forward to getting these put in. If i call this moe guy he probably will have no clue what i am talking about, that and he won't be able to understand my english.
part numbers pls! :)
gotta love interweb stalking...

I just heard back from moe. He said that there is no part number and if your dealer is a part of the "Mitsubishi Leather Program" you can get it. I saw a flyer for it at my dealership. He said that the dealer doesnt install the covers but a Certified Mitsubishi Trim shop does. He also has information on local certified trim shops.
Looks pretty damn good!!!
Can someone provide me the part number for this? $1300 install with all that leather is a deal....

I just posted that it isn't a dealer part. You have to go to a dealership that is affiliated with the Mitsubishi Leather option. Look up like 2-3 posts. |
I think it will be helpful for all Evo owners who is looking for some luxury. I just got mine done today full leather seating and top slide sunroof ! I don't want to steal those people's business, but I only pay $1100 for mine.
Check out http://www.classicsofttrim.com/contact-locations.php |
Looks really good.
oh by the way, They're Mitsu certified leather company if you look it up. There is no such thing call "part number" !! Just ask for leather option at your local dealership and they will send your car to some leather dealer. Different Dealers work with different leather dealers. You just gotta be careful who your dealer is dealing with. In my case, I searched and go to the leather dealer myself. Cut the middle men will save you a $$$$. Be smart my Evo friends ! :mitsu:
Wow! The interior looks a lot more expensive/luxurious now. Very nice.

I sell boats and spoke to a local leather shop I work with. They quoted me a bit less than 1300.00 to put leather in the GSR and insisted that it would be of higher quality than anything from Mitsubishi. Consider that 1300 is NOT cheap. Usually luxury packages from the factory include leather AND a bunch of other upgrades and average about the same cost. For example, if you buy an Outlander and order the luxury package you get: Auto-leveling Xenon HID headlamps, leather seating surfaces, power driver's seat and heated front seats. And invoice on that is 1400.00. So 1300.00 JUST for leather is not all that amazing. I'm still getting leather though! The Good Captain:lol: |
looks great, i really dont like the leather since it gets hot and its already hot enough outside in florida i dont need it hot inside my car too lol
Good Captain,
Stuff that comes on the car is a different price than when you pay for it...Why? because they can 'trade out' the price difference internally so that the accounting credits back the cloth seats, regular headlights to offset some of the price of leather and HIDs. |

I like leather, it absorbs /cools off heat quicker than cloth. Like if you open the window. the heat on the seat cools off quicker than cloth. Of coz, if your butt generates alot heat, that's another story  |
itll start to wrinkle in a few years and look ugly.

that is sickkk....congrats!

I called my local dealer and they said that any dealer that is part of the mitsubishi certified leather program can order these, which they are fortunately. I am all over these like white on rice, and as soon as I have the money these will be on my car. I don't think slippage will be an issue since the bolsters on these seats are so supportive, and these just look nicer than the MR's seats IMO. I am so envious of you Jimm, I can't stand it! Congrats man, looks great!
Looks like there is a website.....

Nope, Atlanta. He said that it would be about 1200-1300, which is right in line with what this guy paid.
looks good but steep price
damn... that looks so much better..... and $1300 aint bad at all...
Leather interior = 100x better, nice job!
Is there anyway to get the real FQ leather with the suede?
looks nice
Damn, I wish this was an option from the factory, when were these available?
I got mine done in March 08, I told them (dealer ) I would not buy the car without it, at no cost, along with the parts for hand-free bluetooth at their costs ($368.00). I paid 36,500.00 for my GSR fully-loaded (Nav, Rockford sound), leather, keyless, and bluetooth.
Do they re-stitch the Recaro label? Can't tell from pics. This is a very nice option, and making getting a X this month a bigger possibility for me.
^ no more recaro's

very nice inserts, i'd definately do this if i had an X
looks good but i am not sure if it is worth the price
Lookis great. I'll call the dealer monday.
I might do this. After sitting in the MR the GSR interior needs some help. The trim I suppose I can get painted, but the seat fabric looks pretty cheap. I really want some alcantara inserts like the MR to control slippage. Then again I want to track the car so perhaps I should just learn to like the GSR interior.
wow this looks great {thumbup}
anyone else got this?

Found that via google docs about the Mitsu Certified Leather Program but it does not mention the Evo... |
$1300 is a great price.
Looks real nice. I may consider this as the fabric seats in my car continue to wear and from the looks of it, that will be soon.

For that price, you can get the 214-B Kelford cams/springs installed. |
that looks amazing
love the leather seats!!! feels a lot better personaly
I know I'm bringing this back from the dead, but how are the seats after a few years? I'm ordering a 2012 and my dealer told me about this option. Worth it in the long run? Pros/cons?
^^^ happy you brought it up, I've been wondering about this for quite some time, going to the dealership tomorrow to see if I can get the MR seat covers
No one has any updates?

Looks great man, 1300 isn't bad either for leather all the way around
