Initial thoughts
 

I had ordered the GG but they changed it to MG for 2012 and at first, i was super concerned b/c i wasn't in love with the MG on the Outlander sport.

I have to say, at least in the mid afternoon and evening, the MG looks pretty awesome on the Evo. It's more like a smoky silver or gun metal than gray. It also seems to match the MR's BBS wheels perfectly.

It also seems to accentuate the bulges and fender flares of the Evo more than the GG did which results in a bit more aggressive look (though less stealthy than the GG as a result).

I'll take some more pics this weekend under various lighting conditions with a real camera (the ones i posted so far were with my phone).

I'm getting sealant, mud flaps, debadging, and tinting this week. will post more after.

Any plans for suspension mods? I forgot how high the car is stock. :lol:

They only warranted mine until they had had enough :lol: May not be as rosey as you think! :(

I had 3 MAF's but they wouldn't do the last one due to the car being "modified" A different exhaust!! (it was the same exhaust all the time though)

Really like this new color and I've always wondered how a 'dark silver' paint would look on an X. Will have to stop by the dealer and check it out in person.

theres MG evo x in Joliet, IL incase someone is local. Seen it in person while shopping for an outlander sport for the gf. It looks even better in person!!

I love this color, and I hate silver so whatever they did to this mix is good.

I really like this color, it had to grow on me but now I am a fan. Very nice:)

yeah, i initially threatened to cancel my order with the dealer when they announced the change from GG to MG (especially since i saw that color on outlanders and was not blown away) but when i first saw it on an Evo, i instantly fell in love ;-) i think there are certain colors that lend themselves to a specific car model's lines. MG seems to give the car a nice muscular, grounded, and hefty look.

i also think it goes well with the BBS wheels.

Looks almost blue-ish in some of the shots. Agree this car doesn't do anything for me on Mitsu's other models but somehow on the Evo it works.

Then again I think the Evo looks great in any color

Very nice. The blue tinge in MG reminds me very much of the "super silver" that Nissan offers the GT-R in.

I think either the '12s come high, or they haven't had a chance to have the springs settle in, cause my '12 looks like a monster truck next to older X's

Well I finally decide that the color I wanted is GG, and now they stop making it, great. Not sure about this new color, it looks like a dark silver to me which is not what I'd like, the GG had a bluish hue to it that gave the car a refined and classic look. From these pictures so far(haven't seen it in person) this mercury gray just looks like dark silver to me.
Can somebody get a GG and a MGP together to see how they contrast each other. This would be really helpful as I'm overseas and don't have the ability to see it in person.
I want to like the mgp but think it's too close to silver vs gray. Is this the case?

I saw one of these on the street the other day only for a second and I have to say it looks pretty awesome in person. You can definitely tell its not graphite gray.

I gotta admit, I didn't really like RG when it was out but as I saw the color more, it became my favorite. Sadly, mitsu made it one year in low numbers.

How much pearl is in the color? Is it metallic looking or very faint?

I'm running Megan Track coilovers (I know I'll get flamed for that but it does the DD job lol) Ichiba 22mm spacers front and rear. I plan to get Whiteline RCA and rear sway in the next couple of months so I'm sure I'll be okay.

Whoops I meant roll center kit, not RCA. But from what I've read, the roll center kit would only benefit if the suspension isn't lowered more than an inch. I'm not sure though.

That thing looks dumped. I would say you need the the kit.

Is it metallic like the GG or is more faint?

IMO I'd say its more pearl than metallic.

Well I'm definitely convinced, I'm going to get the Mercury Gray EVO MR, it really does look good. Phantom Black seems to common!

Finally pulled the trigger and bought a 2012 MG GSR today.

Absolutely thrilled with this car. Swore I'd get another IX but it kept growing on me more and more until another test drive sealed the deal.

This color is not done justice in these photos. Like trying to show someone a Mystic Mustang Cobra photo when the beauty is in the light transitions and color changes from various angles. In overcast light it looks kinda blueish, direct light it's entirely different looking.

I'm thinking black or white powder coating at this point..... Thoughts? I'd get pics but I just got it today and it's been pouring out. Time to detail it tomorrow and get it settled in the garage away from the rain from now on :)

luckily insurance covered it with a zero deductible. car looks just as good as new after the paint shop fixed it. btw this color really starts growing on you. here is another iphone picture.

Is it just me or do the front and rear bumpers not match on this color? Maybe I am crazy. I'm thinking about trading my 335i for one this color..

Plastic parts never perfectly match metal parts. Usually it's because of the flex agent added to the paint. They also age differently with the UV and that changes the color. Mine might not be perfect but it's very close.

First EVO Ever - MG 2012 MR
 

Picked up my first EVO, ever! Wanted one for over 5 years now. Took the 2007 Outlander XLS for service - came home in an EVO X MR. Sunroof, Leather, RF Sound etc.
Slightly more expensive than a dealer oil change but meh - every time I press the fun button on the floorboard those worries go away!
