Wheel shake at 70+

Hello all,

So i am trying to figure this out. When i cruise at 70, the wheel shakes, and its almost as if the whole steering column is vibrating, and it is fine below 70 miles per hour. I just had the tires checked and re-balanced. Watched them do it, and i know the machine said they are balanced. Also had the alignment checked and set to perfect on a laser alignment machine, yet it still does it. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? Its very bothersome and i really want to make it go away Thanks for all the help!

If you have aftermarket rims, make sure you are using the proper lugnuts. If you are on stock rims, make sure you are not using "tuner" lugnuts.

I had this problem on my X but it was the due to the snow tires. This also happened on my 08 GTS, I had the tires re-balanced, had the car aligned and even went as far as changing out the rotors but to no avail. It turned out the new tires I bought were actually bad. Since you checked the balancing and alignment already you may want to check the rotors to make sure they're not warped and check the tires if they're new. Good Luck.

thats what mine is as well, not as much a shake as more of a vibrating at like 70-75, only notice it on the highway. Anyone else have this issue? And i mean it COULD be my tires, but it just seems really weird. but I mean the tires are not THAT old. Theyre stock and at like 7/32 where stock is 10/32. And they didnt really do this when they were new. So im at a loss over here. Rotors are fine too.

that occurs to my car too on stock tyres and wheels, and it's more of a vibration.

i don't know if this is just me but i feel once the tyres have warmed up, the
vibrations on the steering wheel is much less apparent.

yea a vibration is the best way to explain it as well. and whats weird to me is that i JUST had the car balanced and aligned...? Is this a common issue among other X's? I may try to swap out my rims with the ones on the rear, but i know one of my rears is a lil off from a pothole, but at this point i think it may be because of the tires maybe? Or something else that could be common among all X's?

We lowered our car with eibach springs. Got it realign too, but it still pulls a little to the left. Just the other day when rotating the tires, both front inside threads feels a little lumpy when you run your hands over them. This has caused a little vibration in my steering wheel too. Maybe you can run your hands over your tires and see if there is lumps on the tires.
