Tpms Off

Does anyone know, if the TPMS can be turned off on the X?

(I wanted to run some rays valve stem vs. the factory TPMS unit)

Thank you

I was watching the MITSU training vids and there is a lot that the dealerships can do I bet they can turn it off if you want. I know that they can resync them if you ever change a wheel I bet someone knows something. JUST A GUESS

I was told, they had a customer ran some wheels without the tpms sensor for few days. and it threw up massive amount of CEL and codes. Far as he is aware. there is not way to turn it off.

So what happens if you have a set if rims/tires for track and for winter? Can you buy extra valve stems/sensors for the other ones?

Local dealership... Supposely there was no room to cut the price. LOL

I seen it on ebay for like 200 bucks.

But I am sure they are not cheap anywhere.

i have not seen any pictures of it, but i think it works like each wheels sensor sends out a radio signal to the computer in the car, and every so often tells it if its right or not.
i hope its not like other ones where you have to reprogram every time you rotate the tires to makes sure the computer knows where each one is. sometimes its a pain in the butt.

I think the ABS system and AWC system is some how all tied in to the sensor as well.

There are 2 ways around this.

The simplest method is the zip tie method. The sensors work on pressure applied to the unit while it is inside the wheel. Simply remove the units from the wheel, put a plastic spacer in between and zip tie them together. You will need to do this quite tight to fool them into thinking there is enough pressure being applied. Simply throw them in the glove box, trunk, etc.

The other method takes longer to fabricate, but is easier to regulate the proper pressure. Basically, you make a pipe bomb for the sensors.

You will need:

12" X 3" PVC pipe
2 X 3" PVC end caps
PVC pipe glue
3M double side tape (foam type)
I believe it is a 3/8 in drill bit and rill

Glue one end cap to the pipe.
Using foam tape, attach 3 sensors inside the tube (taped so they will not rattle around).
Drill hole in other end cap.
Insert last sensor inthe the hole in the end cap. Reattach hardware so it is sealed.
Glue end cap onto pipe.
Let dry over night.

Inflate to proper amount and hide in trunk.

I read somwhere in the manual that you can get a replacement set of sensors and program their code into the vehicle somehow.
