Would this fit?

Someone local is selling his Volk TE 37 but the size is 18 x 7.5 +40 and i was wondering if this would fit. planning on using it as winter tires.

No way man, way too high of an offset for a 7.5" wheel. You can test fit, but to fit them you will most likely need a spacer. I would guess about a 20mm spacer.

Sounds like those wheels would be too far inward, would be dicey on fitment. Another member pointed me to this site for wheel spacers and adapters:

It looked like 1" model (~25mm) would fit over your hubs and get attached with low profile lugs, then you attach the wheel to new studs on the spacer. This should in theory give you plenty of clearance for the brakes and push the wheel outwards, maybe even allowing 17" wheels to be used for a winter tire combo. I know there are a few 17" wheels that will actually just barely clear the brakes but they are very hard to find without test fitting as it depends on how the spokes curve inwards at the edge of the wheel.
