Aligning a lowered X

Wow, that was fun. Roger at Don Herring worked me for quite a while to get what I wanted (and what we could, see below).

My car's dropped on Stance GR+Pro SSD coilovers. They have front camber plates.

When you install the coilovers, make sure that you set the top front bolt to have the red dot away from the strut. This will give you an extra 0.7* of negative camber. The manual says 1*, but it effectively gave us 0.7*. This is similar to how it works on the VIII and IX.

When I came in here's where I was:

Code:
        L           R
Front:
Camber: -1.2       -1.5
Caster:  4.0        4.3
Toe:    -0.05      -0.03


Rear:
Camber: -1.5      -1.4
Toe:     0.57     -0.02
When we got done:

Code:
        L           R
Front:
Camber: -2.0       -2.0
Caster:  4.0        4.3
Toe:     0.00      -0.01


Rear:
Camber: -1.0      -1.2
Toe:     0.01      0.02
We are unable to get the rears to have more negative camber without really pushing the toe out. I'm wondering what the best thing to do here is? Aftermarket toe plates? We were able to get around -2.3 camber, but then the toe was really high, like over +1! I really wanted -1.5 in the rear with around 0 toe, but at -1.5, the toe went to around .50 which would not be really good.

When I move the camber plates in all the way, my front camber goes to -2.9* and my toe goes to 0.46. Each quarter rotation of the tie rod gives me ~.10 toe change. That's going to suck turning the silly thing at each Autocross! Guess I'll have to get there early or be a bit squirrelly on the way there and back.


On the highway home, it felt fine (well it felt fine when I got there really), so the true test will be at the next autocross or HPDE.

Lookin good...I'd try my best to get that toe out (but its not much). Im running -2.5 front (0 toe all the way around, 3.5 caster) and -1.9 in the rear (most I could get with BC's and 275 rubber ) Odd that the toe was effected by the camber-

toe is always affected by the camber.

What we were finding in the rear is that with the car lowered, the rods that both the camber and the toe excentrics are on were at the same level and they had to work together to get things right. It was a big ol' pita.

hmmm...mine has been fine-I was just in Monday for one after getting the new rims installed (raised the car a but load to get the tires to fit).
